MAYOR'S GOLF TOURNAMENT | SATURDAY, MAY 4

Join Mayor Woody Brown at the 25th Annual Mayor's Golf Tournament, presented by McGill Plumbing, for a day filled with golf and giving back! Tee up to support a great cause: the City of Largo Summer Camp Youth Scholarship, sponsored by Largo’s Recreation, Parks, and Arts Department. This year's Par Wars-themed tournament promises an out-of-this-world experience, conveniently held on May the 4th. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a novice golfer, come enjoy 18 holes of friendly competition at the picturesque Largo Golf Course. The City of Largo announces its search for an experienced and dedicated Human Resources Director. This pivotal role aims to lead the HR team in aligning with the city's mission and goals while solidifying its vision to be the community of choice in Tampa Bay. 

The incoming Human Resources Director will be responsible for crafting and executing HR strategies, policies, and programs essential for attracting, retaining, and developing a diverse and skilled workforce. With a focus on promoting inclusivity and a high-performance workplace, the successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, sound judgment, and a passion for public service.

A portion of Central Park Drive will be closed to through traffic Friday, April 19 through Sunday, April 28 for the beautification of the Central Park Drive crosswalk with a new street mural. The City of Largo partnered with Creative Pinellas to identify a local artist, and a review panel selected artist Emily Tayman. 

Central Park Drive will be closed to all through traffic between East Bay and 8th Ave while the artist is painting. All public parking lots and sidewalks will remain open on either side of Central Park Drive. 



Largo Public Library, Central Park Performing Arts Center, and Largo Central Park will remain open for regular hours and regular programing during this time. Public access to the library parking lot is available from 8th Ave only.  

VENETIAN GARDENS DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT

The Venetian Gardens Drainage Improvements Project construction is entering the final phase of work, the asphalt pavement improvements. The asphalt milling operation will begin next week and will be followed by the asphalt paving operation. Once the roadway work is complete, the final restoration and project cleanup will follow. This work will be completed over the next few weeks. Temporary traffic control measures have been implemented. Local traffic will experience contractor activities in the roadway and sidewalk areas.

SMALL MOVES MOVING COMPANY FUEL TANK PLACEMENT PROJECT APPROVED

On April 9, Planning & Development Services approved a small-scale review case number SPR222-018 for Small Moves, Inc. for the placement of fuel tanks on the property located at 2960 East Bay Drive. The property is located on the north side of East Bay Drive, approximately a third of a mile east of Keene Road. This approval allows the applicant to install two 500-gallon fuel tanks and associated safety bollards on the site, which a commercial moving company currently occupies.

Construction of Horizon West Bay which includes Largo City Hall is underway. As of April 12, 2024, work continues on the following tasks:

• Underground Utilities Interior/Exterior Garage and City Hall
• Garage and City Hall Interior Plumbing
• Garage and City Hall Fire Protection 
• Electrical Work at Garage and City Hall
• City Hall Interior Walls 
• City Hall and Garage Mechanical Work
• Roofing at City Hall
• Installation of Exterior Glass
• Installation of Architectural Precast at City Hall

Road closures for the duration of the project include:

• 4th Street NW, between West Bay to 1st Ave NW
• 5th Street NW, between West Bay to 1st Ave NW
• 1st Avenue NW, between 4th Street to 5th Street
