RECREATION, PARKS, AND ARTS HOSTING SURVEY

The mission of Largo’s Recreation, Parks, and Arts Department is to provide programs and facilities that are enriching and inspire community pride. During the month of September, the department is hosting a public survey to learn more about the community’s perspective on the current use and satisfaction of recreation services in Largo. Resident feedback will help identify new opportunities and the community’s needs and interests to inform future programming and funding priorities. As a bonus, survey participants will be entered to win Apple AirPods. The survey will be open until September 30 and can be found by visiting PlayLargo.com/Survey. Please take a few minutes of your time to help inform future recreation services that will help build the Largo community.

ROAD CLOSURE UPDATES

BOLESTA ROAD

Bolesta Road is closed in both directions between Roosevelt Blvd and Bay Isle Circle due to a roadway failure. The sanitary sewer manhole replacement work has been completed. The roadway surface repairs are underway and anticipated to be completed within the next two weeks. Bolesta Road will be reopened after the completion of these repairs. A temporary closure will occur following the reopening of the road to complete the permanent pavement markings. Please note both the northbound and southbound lanes of Bolesta Road are closed between Roosevelt Blvd and Bay Isle Circle during the final stage of the repair project. Driveway access to the office building will be maintained during this period.

1st AVE NW ROAD

Construction on the 1st Avenue NW Reclaimed Water Main Extension Project is resuming this week. 1st Avenue NW will be closed from Clearwater-Largo Road west to Howard Street and from Clearwater-Largo Road east to Ridge Road. 1st Avenue NW will be open to local traffic only. This project will continue east to 4th Street NW over the upcoming months. The contractor plans to work essentially block by block utilizing local incremental road closures and plans to restore the road surface at the end of each day. The contractor will place detour signs accordingly. Construction duration is estimated to be 6 months, barring weather and other unforeseen events.

8th AVENUE SE CLOSURE AT CSX TRACKS

8th Avenue SE will be closed at the CSX tracks October 2-5 to replace the existing timber and asphalt crossing with a more durable, smoother tub crossing. During the crossing replacement, Lake Avenue and Donegan Road can be accessed from the north at Central Park Drive and from the south at Ulmerton Road. Access to 8th Avenue SE, including Largo Middle School, will be from Seminole Blvd. Please plan for longer drive times the week of the crossing replacement.

150th AVE N ROAD CLOSURE UPDATE

150th Ave N is closed in both directions between 58th Street N and 62nd Street N for emergency repair purposes. Emergency manhole replacement work is underway. The closure will last for approximately six weeks due to the extent of the repair work required. Closure and repair updates will be posted as the work progresses. Eastbound Local traffic will not be able to proceed beyond the Pinellas Technical College driveway entrance. Westbound Local traffic will not be able to proceed beyond the High Point Village Community entrance.

Residents are advised to follow detour routes and drive with caution around construction zones. For questions about the above road closures, please contact Largo Engineering at nshaw@largo.com or 727-587-6713 Ext. 4417.
