A Year In

As I write this, I am celebrating my first anniversary with the Greater Eureka Chamber. It’s prompted me (and our team!) to reflect on what we have accomplished these past twelve months. We want to celebrate with you, our members!

Cocktails & Crooners Annual Gala: In January, we held our annual business awards event which filled the Sequoia Conference Center to capacity with revelry and good spirits. Save the date for the 2024 Annual Gala - Friday, January 26!

Summer Fun Family Mixer: Our July mixer, hosted by Redwood Acres, brought together a crowd of 600 from 50+ businesses, for a member-exclusive evening of fun and connection. We plan to do it again in 2024!

Redwood Coast Chamber Foundation: Established in January, RCCF is a new 501c3 organization, designed to support expanded programming for not only the Greater Eureka Chamber, but also for Chambers and their communities across the region. It’s a game-changer.

New Programs: We launched multiple programs in the first half of 2023: Next Level, a series of professional development offerings; Conversations with Leaders, a recurring, member-exclusive opportunity to hear from local leaders about pressing issues; and Leadership Redwood Coast, an annual five-month program in partnership with AEDC, offering emerging leaders greater understanding of our region and honing their leadership abilities.

Membership Survey: In April, you, our members, responded to our most comprehensive member survey ever. Your generous response is informing our work in myriad ways.

2023-27 Strategic Plan: Our new strategic plan was approved unanimously at our July Board meeting, with focus on expanded programming; membership growth, diversification and retention; and organizational sustainability.

Advocacy Policies and Positions: As an organization engaged in advocacy, it was time to update our Policies and Positions. (A lot has changed since 2018!) We expect this process to be complete by the end of 2023.

The Chamber team is working hard to bring more opportunity for our members. Stay tuned for what’s next!

July Summer Fun Family Mixer at Redwood Acres
Hundreds of Chamber members and their families gathered at Redwood Acres on July 20 for our largest-ever Chamber mixer. Attendees got access to local food trucks, a petting zoo, race car rides and other family-friendly activities. We think this was such a special way to meet other members of the business community and of course our adorable friends in the animal community who can be seen hanging out with board chair, Kate Witthaus.

A special thanks to The Acres, Vineyard Offshore, RWE, Providence, Western Health, Crowley Wind Services, Bicoastal Media, and Coast Central for making this event possible!
