Center for Economic Education & Entrepreneurship
July 2018 newsletter

If you've visited the CEEE recently, you've probably noticed that our office has undergone a bit of a renovation. Taking down partitions and giving the suite a fresh coat of white paint, we have transformed the Center into a brighter and much more efficient space to work. To add some spark, we've hung a few brightly-colored Story People prints by artist Brian Andreas. One piece, in particular, seems to aptly speak to what we do best. It reads: "The most important stuff you leave behind is the stuff that turns into treasures when children find them."

We think you'll agree that the importance of a relevant and engaging economic and personal finance education is one such treasure. By teaching young people how to make sound choices and manage scarce resources, the educators we train are leaving students with skills that will prove valuable in all aspects of their lives-- skills that are as important to a child deciding on how best to spend her allowance as they are to a citizen preparing to vote.

To prepare educators for this work, the CEEE offers many outstanding workshops and a world-renown master's degree for K-12 educators, and contributes instruction and leadership to the PhD in Economic Education program (PhD-EE). It is worth noting that the educators we support are being recognized for outstanding accomplishment. In growing numbers, the PhD-EE alumni are invited to share scholarly research at conferences, such as the American Economic Association Conference on Teaching and Research in Economic Education (CTREE). MA-EEE graduates continue to be acknowledged for generating positive change throughout the world. And local teachers are being applauded for improvements they've made in their schools and districts.

We all want to be remembered for having contributed something meaningful to the world. In partnership with you, we will continue to leverage the "multiplier" to guide and inspire students of all ages, imparting knowledge that will surely turn into treasures. The work that we are accomplishing together is important, it will be remembered, and it does make a difference. We look forward to accomplishing more together and truly thank you for your support.
