Gents Original Beverages, LLC
              Tim Jones, Owner
                            Lexington, KY

Legend has it that native Kentuckian Tim Jones was enjoying a fine bourbon one evening when he began to wonder why the same meticulous, artisan processes developed to make craft bourbon were not practiced in the production of craft sodas and non-alcoholic beverages. Tim began to nurture the idea of Gents Original, a unique and refreshing line of premium handmade sodas and cocktail syrups. Tim reached out to Fausto Sarmiento and the Bluegrass SBDC in January 2015 for help in the transition from an idea to a product.

The pair worked together as Tim transitioned from a mobile vendor utilizing rented commercial kitchen space to being able to lease a small production facility on the strength of Gents' promising growth. Gents Original has accumulated a base of enthusiastic supporters, often selling out at market booths hosted by various venues. Tim Jones was identified as a rising star in the soda world, selected as a member of the "Next Generation of Soda Makers" by Imbibe Magazine.

The business first grew by selling bottles. Demand quickly encouraged them to provide kegs to area bars and restaurants. Tim and Gents recently completed the first batch of canned Gent's Original, reaching a milestone that was only a dream a couple of years ago.
