The agriblogging and farm podcasting highway is going to get busy starting next week when Chuck attends the Corn Utilization Technology Conference in St. Louis and travels on to an EPA public hearing on the RFS in Kansas City. Meanwhile, Jaime and Lizzy will be at World Pork Expo in Des Moines.
We congratulate and welcome new Brand Marketing Communications Manager, Francesca Vaughn, to New Holland. And in case we didn't mention it last week, the same to Mary Hagan, new VP of Communications at NCGA. And while we're at it let's also welcome new Pork Board CEO, William J. Even.

Vets Turn Focus on Soil Health
Several international experts in animal health and nutrition were present at ONE: The Alltech Ideas Conference, where their expert testimony on the solutions to the wide array of challenges facing animal production could be heard by a global audience. Prof. Johanna Fink-Gremmels, a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and expert in Veterinary Toxicology who works with the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) traveled to the conference from the Netherlands in order to speak to audiences on the future of animal health, which she believes must begin to become more holistic.

Nebraska Ramps Up Bio-based Partnerships
Nebraska is ramping up its bio-based partnerships. According to a recent Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED), bioscience companies employ more than 16,000 people in the state with the industry growing at a faster pace than the national average. For instance, several global and national companies are already located in Nebraska, including: NatureWorks (corn-based plastics), Novozymes (enzyme technology), Purac (lactic acid), Laurel BioComposite (bioresins from distillers grains), Pharmgate (animal pharmaceuticals) and many more.

Western Plains Energy Joins RFA
Western Plains Energy has joined the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA). The ethanol facility is located in Oakley, Kansas and produces 50 million gallons per year of ethanol from both corn and grain sorghum. The ethanol refinery produces more than 400,000 tons per year of wet distillers' grains.

ICM's SMT Technology Proven Process
IMC says its Selective Milling Technology (SMT) has proven its success. Today the technology is installed at nearly 15 percent of U.S. ethanol plants and has enabled ethanol plants to produce more than 300 million gallons of ethanol since its installations. ICM says the SMT process has collectively produced more than 45 million gallons of ethanol per year as well as a collective increase of more than 30 million pounds of corn oil per year. ICM cites that at current values for both products, SMT has collectively generated more than $85 million in additional revenue for these ethanol facilities.

Available next spring is the new MaxEmerge 5e row units for a variety of Deere planters, including the mini-hopper and DB planters. MaxEmerge 5e row units will improve seeding population accuracy when it operating on a curve- up to 20 percent improvement in fact, along with eliminating a potential yield loss due to inaccuracies.

ANSEMAT Joins Agrievolution Alliance
The Agrievolution Alliance is a global network of agricultural equipment manufacturers made up of more than 6,000 member companies. The group has now announced the newest addition to their ranks, the National Association for Agricultural, Forestry and Landscaping Machinery (ANSEMAT) of Spain. ANSEMAT represents 63 agriculture equipment manufacturing companies and 124 total companies. This brings Alliance's total to 14 equipment organizations from across the globe.

Food Bloggers Experience Beef Production
A recent "#BLOGMEETSBEEF" program focused on the Pasture to Plate Experience has helped increase knowledge of beef and beef production among 14 of the nations key food bloggers. The event, held April 26-27 in Columbus, Ohio, was funded by the Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin Beef Councils, and was supported by the family-owned Meijer supermarket chain, which carries only Certified Angus Beef.
