Hello, Wilmette:
In this edition of our eNewsletter we celebrate The Bab (prophet Founder of the Baha'i Faith, alongside Baha'u'llah) and Youth. The Bab was martyred at 30 years of age. His life and Teachings exemplified the youthful qualities of vitality, strength, passion, and idealism. "Bab" means "gate"--an entity that can allow or prevent access to something else of value. We hope the articles, courses, and webinars presented below will lead you to develop capacities and thoughts which, as one prayer goes, "may change this world into a rose garden through the outpourings of heavenly grace."
In our next public webinar, on Saturday, June 22nd, young writers Nasim Mansuri and Ron Lapitan will host "What is Baha’i Literature?”: A Youth Experiment. WI Webinars are free; all are welcome to participate.
The following piece, from e*lix*ir issue #16, is a personal reflection by James Andrews based on one of the Bab’s Writings about the proper purpose and form of worship. James was a student of the WI courses "Finding the Hidden Gift: An Approach to Studying the Baha'i Writings" and "Writing About the Writings: The Art and Craft of the Personal Reflection Piece," led by faculty mentor Sandra Hutchison.
Read "Fire and Paradise" on the e*lix*ir website.
Because our last Newsletter contained a bad link, please note here is the correct link to watch former WI faculty member Paul Hanley talk to students about the topic of his new book, which is about 'Adasiyyih, Jordan, a village that became a model farming community with the guidance of 'Abdu'l-Baha.
