Venice Theatre

Venice Theatre continues its 67th MainStage Season with the area premiere of Billy Elliot the Musical. Directed and choreographed by Thomas Dewayne Barrett with music direction by Becky Heintz, this Olivier, Tony, and Drama Desk Award Winner opens Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016 with performances through Sunday, Dec. 4, 2016. Showtime is 8 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and 2 p.m. on Sundays. There are also Saturday matinees at 2 p.m. on Nov. 19 and Dec. 3.

Tickets for Billy Elliot the Musical are on sale now at www.venicestage.com, 941-488-1115, or in person at 140 W. Tampa Ave. in Venice. Prices are $31 for adults, $17 for college students, and $15 for students through 12th grade. Special rates are available for groups of 20 or more. Prices are subject to change. Gulf Coast Community Foundation and Robert and Hazel Neveu have generously sponsored Venice Theatre's 2016-2017 MainStage Series.

Suncoast Humane Society: Pet of the Week
Meet Trudy! Although she has had some rough times in her past, she remains a very happy girl weighing 68 pounds. This 6 year old American Pit Bull loves her people and spending time with them. Trudy is very energetic and enjoys playtime in the yard, then will beg for attention and would do best being the only dog. 
Meet Laney! She is a 1 ½ domestic short hair feline with a whole lot of spunk! Playful and silly, she enjoys interaction and chasing toys. This little social butterfly with white and brown markings likes to say hello and get attention. Laney transferred to us from another shelter so her history is a bit unknown, but from our observations, she is a 7 pound delightful little character!
