Ebert and Lin bring experience, vision, and enthusiasm to this important component of our training program.

Walid Farhat, MD, in his role as Urology Global Health Director, has been active in enhancing the local care of patients with urologic issues in Beirut, Lebanon. Originally from Lebanon and trained under the esteemed Dr. Kamal Hemady, Dr. Farhat has dedicated his efforts to improving pediatric urological care in his homeland. Children with pediatric urological anomalies often face stigmatization due to urinary or genital conditions. Dr. Hemady's enduring belief that all children deserve the best care aligns with the mission of this initiative, which aims to provide prompt and effective treatment to those in need, improving the lives of these young patients and their families.

A Dream Job for Our Newest Pediatric Urologist

Kristin Ebert, MD joined the UW Department of Urology in November 2023 as an Assistant Professor (CHS) and Pediatric Urologist. Hailing from New Berlin, Wisconsin, Dr. Ebert earned her Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Before entering medical school at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health, she imagined a future in Psychiatry; however, while training here, her path quickly changed course when Dr. Ebert saw the immediate impact she could make on patients' lives through surgical interventions. Further, she realized that the urology specialty would offer the perfect blend of surgical precision and the opportunity to form long-term, meaningful relationships with patients.

"I believe wholeheartedly that this department and institution provided the foundation for my own clinical success. I wanted to give back to an institution that has given so much to me. It is truly my dream job."

Soon after joining our Pediatric Urology Division, Dr. Ebert took on the role of Pediatric Urology Lead for the Spina Bifida and Translational Urology programs. Her work focuses on complex cases, particularly those involving spina bifida and neurogenic bladder, as well as adolescent and young adult patients with congenital urologic issues. Her surgical prowess is evident in her complex robotic urinary tract reconstructions and her collaboration with her subspecialty colleagues in Genitourinary Reconstruction or Urogynecology.
