My Faith is Love: Proclaiming our Faith to a Hurting World

Rachel Rogers

10:45 AM, Sunday, June 25, 2023

We know the world is hurting. As Unitarian Universalists, we also know that we’ve discovered both a balm to that hurt as well as a movement aimed at building a new way and a more just future. Still, we often find ourselves hitting personal barriers when given the opportunity to share our faith with others. How do we overcome our hesitation and move more into a state of being where we proclaim our faith widely, proudly, and with a heart full of love? In this service, we will explore ways that we can look out into the world with open hearts and a spirit of welcome.

Rachel Rogers is an aspirant to Unitarian Universalist ministry living in Nashville, Tennessee. Currently on a sabbatical from divinity school at Meadville Lombard Theological School, Rachel enjoys preaching regularly at congregations in the Southeast where she is blessed to do the collaborative work of meaning making and co-imagining a more just and love-filled future.

Last Anthem of the Year

This Sunday the choir is singing Rhythm of Life. The choir voted to sing this lively anthem as our last musical offering of the year. It is a long-standing choir favorite!

Summer Musicians Needed

The UUCH Choir will be taking a break during the months of July and August, which means there are ample opportunities for guest musicians to perform. Please contact Lori Larson at music.director@uuch.org. if you are interested!

Nursery Care

Nursery care will be available during the service
from 10:30-12:15.

Little ones can be signed in and out upon arrival and departure in the RE wing.

Children and Youth Education News

Preschool-5th Grade & 6th-12th Grade

Delight is our theme for June, and this week we double-down on this by claiming and embracing whimsy, surprise, and the fantastical. Last week we learned about delight as a means of healing and rejuvenation of spirit after facing hard times.  We continue to incorporate this crucial tool to carry on and nurture the seeds of hope and love within us, our congregation, and our community.

Calling for Donations

Our YoUUth group room is looking for some better seating arrangements. CYRE is calling on the congregation (out of curiosity and due diligence!) to see if anyone has a large sectional they are looking to donate. We are also looking for a laptop, nothing fancy. Preferably to be able to connect to the internet to stream content.

Newsletter Technical Difficulties

Last weeks Newsletter was unable to send due to issues with our software. In the future, we will put out a Facebook message letting everyone know of any issues that arrive with publishing. Thanks for your understanding!

Safety and security review - A new way to serve

UUCH is putting more smarts and heart into our safety and security policies and procedures. Given general threats which have risen to the public sphere, there is a great opportunity to evaluate our current posture and make recommendations consistent with our values and principles for the purpose of effective community protection. If you are interested in supporting this effort, please connect with Board Trustee Shalin Mody.

UUCH Members Provide Food for the Homeless

UUCH members provided side dishes for the monthly dinner on June 11th sponsored by Love Huntsville for unhoused people. More than a dozen UUCH members contributed time, food, and funds to directly feed the less fortunate in our community. Love Huntsville sponsors a monthly dinner for local unhoused people and UUCH members helped feed more than 100 people on June 11th.

Many thanks to those who contributed and especially to Gail Williams for coordinating our participation in this important event!
