Hispanic Heritage Month, Binational Health Events Sponsored by the INTEGRIS Hispanic Initiative, the Consulate of Mexico in Little Rock, Ark., and La Tremenda Radio Station

Binational Health Month is one of the largest mobilization efforts of federal and state government agencies, community-based organizations and volunteers in the Americas to improve the health and well being of the underserved Latino population living in the United States and Canada.

It encompasses an annual weeklong series of health promotion and health education activities that include workshops, insurance referrals and medical screenings. The events are coordinated by networks forged among agencies and community organizations with the purpose of reaching out to the most disadvantaged and vulnerable people, especially those without medical insurance coverage.

The INTEGRIS Health Hispanic Initiative, Mexico Consulate of Little Rock, Ark., Adult Learning Center and La Tremenda radio station invite you to be a part of Hispanic Heritage Month, Binational Health Events, Sept. 15 to Oct. 15.

Events include Lotera de Salud, the Move for Life children's program, on Tuesday, Sept. 23; breast self-examination class on Wednesday, Sept. 24; and the second generation Plaza Communitarian graduated students on Friday, Sept. 26. The presentations will be held at 6 p.m. in the Medical Office Building located at 4200 S. Douglas Ave., Suite B-10, at INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

INTEGRIS Health's Hispanic Initiative began in 2003 to improve quality of life in the Hispanic community through education, resources and health-related services, and to understand cultural differences within the Hispanic communities. Hispanics have become the nation's largest minority segment. This increase creates anticipation that the Hispanic community will comprise one-fifth of the population in Oklahoma by 2020, making it the largest and also the dominant minority group. The Hispanic Initiative targets citizens interested in becoming healthy and productive leaders.

For more information or to register, call the INTEGRIS HealthLine at 951-2277, press #2 for Spanish.

Dear Members,

The Greater Oklahoma City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce helps thousands of entrepreneurs establish or expand their business through training and development programs. The organization has established a reputation as a trusted community organization, beneficial resource, and expert leader in regard to Hispanic-related issues and communication. Programs we offer include educating the Latino business community and the overall public on cultural, socioeconomic, and legal topics. By identifying the needs of the Hispanic community and partnering with related agencies, we are able to develop programs that benefit the community as a whole.

Our success has led to our growth in membership, programs and space needs. In keeping with our mission to improve economic development and the quality of life for Oklahoma we seek to establish a permanent office space for the Chamber by re-purposing existing commercial space in the heart of the Oklahoma City Hispanic area. This space would provide sufficient office and meeting space to continue and expand our current business development, workforce and education workshops.

We thank our Members for their gracious donations!

We ask that you consider donating funds to support our $300,000 capital campaign to purchase an existing building. Donations and sponsorships to our 501c3 foundation are tax deductible and we offer a variety of sponsorship packages to ensure we celebrate your partnership with us. Please click here to print the donation form or click the PayPal link below. For more information you can reach me at 405-616-5031.

Thank you,
