When my grandson was two, he was competing with his older four year old sister to see who can learn the Baltimore Catechism. His mom asks the question: Who made the world? Older sister answers: “God” and Walter echoes: “God.” Who is God? Sister responds: “God is creator of heaven and earth and all things.” Little Walter repeats: “earth and all things.” What is man? Sister says: “Man is composed of body and soul and made in God’s image.” Walter manages: “body and soul.” Finally: Why did God make you? Sister parrots: “God made me to know Him, to serve Him in this world and to be happy with Him for ever in heaven.” Walter thinks hard, stares at mom, she prompts him: Why did God make you Walter? More silence, finally Walter says, “uhmmmmmmmm fun.”

Help us keep Jesus at Christ Church Lodge at Bethany while raising money for Cursillo!
A few weeks ago 6 staffers (Paul and Angie Pradat, Jeff and Ann Cull, Robin and Amanda Jones) and 2 pilgrims (Jennifer Elebash and Billy Hannah) from Christ Church attended Cursillo #232. The amazing artist Lila Graves (https://lilagraves.com/) painted live and created this beautiful masterpiece. She has generously donated the painting and would like all proceeds to go to Cursillo.
We would LOVE for the painting to hang at the Christ Church Lodge at Bethany but we need your help with donations (her paintings of this size sell for $2,800).
Please consider making a donation to Cursillo earmarked 'In Thanksgiving for Jesus at Christ Church' so the treasurer can let us know if we reached our goal.

House of Deputies Necrology
It is the custom of the House of Deputies to pray for deputies to General Conventions who have died during the previous triennium or who have not been memorialized at a previous convention.
As deputies meet and prepare to convene in Louisville, we are asking your assistance in compiling this memorial list. Please consult with senior deputies, former deputies, and others (such as secretaries of diocesan convention or your diocesan historiographer/archivist), determine who from your diocese should be included, and to send me the following information:
- Deputy’s Name and Order of Ministry
- Diocese
- The General Convention(s) at which he/she served as deputy (an approximation is acceptable)
Please send information to The Rev. Seth Olson at seth@holyapostleshoover.org. He will be accepting names by e-mail before the General Convention in Louisville.
Thank you for helping the house honor its deceased members.

Together, we can Equip the Saints in the Episcopal Church in Alabama to share the love of God with all people.
Equipping the Saints for Growth: Congregational Vitality
Jesus calls us to go and make disciples. We will expand our capacity to share the Gospel by making transformational investments in parishes, forming new Episcopal communities, and strengthening lay and clergy leaders.
Equipping the Saints for Formation: Camp McDowell
Each year, thousands of campers, students, teachers, and guests visit Lower Camp at Camp McDowell to connect with neighbors, nature, and God. By attending to essential maintenance, we enhance opportunities for Christian formation.
Equipping the Saints for Reconciliation: Racial Healing and Pilgrimage
We will create pathways to racial healing by preserving and strengthening The Church of the Good Shepherd in Montgomery, encouraging the spiritual practice of pilgrimage, and training our leaders to guide individuals and parishes toward healing.

Please join us in prayer for the success of the campaign and the future of the Episcopal Church in Alabama.
Lord, you have blessed us with a church that connects us to one another and to you. We thank you for this gift and ask for your guidance as we steward it. Empower us to equip the saints for the work of your kingdom. May our gifts to this camapign be a reflection of your love, find favor in your sight, and may we walk in the footsteps of Jesus who loves us. Amen.
Lay and clergy leaders from across the diocese have written a 14-day devotional with reflections and prayers to guide us through a time of discernemtn. As we contemplate the ways in which we can support the future of our church, may these moments of reflection deepen our connection to God and each other.
