CAREGIVER CHALLENGE ESTIMATOR
NEW ROLES FOR DRS. HAMBRICK AND GRIFFIN
NASHVILLE BOOT CAMPS

For those of you who have participated in a CTA Case-based Series in the past year or two, it's likely that you have seen Dr. Perry use the Caregiver Challenge Estimator tool to assess the demands on a particular caregiver.  We are so pleased to announce that the tool is now available to the public!  For those of you already involved in any of our training programs with CTA online accounts, the tool can be added to your existing account, and for new subscribers, enrollment and account set us is easy.  Read more about the tool below as well as other very exciting updates.

We are equally thrilled this month to announce some transitions in CTA Leadership: Dr. Erin Hambrick joins us as our new Director of Research while former Director of Research Dr. Gene Griffin becomes Senior Fellow for Policy and Practice. We look forward to an exciting year with more developments to come. In 2017, we plan to share more on the accomplishments of our partners in training.

In our March newsletter, we plan to feature our growing cadre of European colleagues and announce our plans for our 2018 NMT & NME Symposium -- and additional NMT and NME Boot Camps!
NOW AVAILALBE - NEW Caregiver Challenge Estimator Tool

Caring for children creates physical and emotional demands that can be exhausting. The time, attention and energy of any caregiver is limited. When a caregiver is depleted, it is much more difficult to meet the needs of the child. There are a number of factors that influence the internal and external resources of any caregiver, and there are other factors that increase the caregiving 'burden' such as age of the child, as well as physical, emotional or behavioral problems.

CTA's Caregiving Challenge Estimator (CCE) is a tool that is intended to provide an estimate of the caregiving 'burden' facing a primary caregiver at a given moment in time. This tool has been in development for some time, and we are happy to announce that it is now available!

This simple tool allows clinicians and educators to estimate the balance between resources and demands to determine the Caregiving Reserve score; in turn, this information can help in clinical decision-making and psychoeducation for the caregivers.

As with all metrics, this report is intended to supplement and not replace the clinical decision making process.  Report packages are now available for purchase.   Click here for more information.

Dr. Erin Hambrick Named New CTA Director of Research

We are proud to announce that Dr. Erin Hambrick has been named CTA's new Director of Research.   In addition to serving as CTA's Director of Research, Dr. Hambrick is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Missouri - Kansas City (UMKC), where she teaches graduate and undergraduate psychology courses and directs lab PANDA (Pediatric Abuse, Neglect, Disaster, and Adversity). Her research is broadly focused on children exposed to trauma and adversity. Specific lines of research include identifying risk and protective factors following exposure to trauma or adversity, identifying helpful ways for caregivers to talk to children about disasters, and evaluating the effectiveness of available trauma treatments in community-based settings. Her ultimate goal is to promote the use of evidence-informed, trauma-focused interventions in community-based service provision settings.
