UPCOMING EVENTS

Friends,

I am delighted to announce that the Rev. Brad Gough will be joining our staff as a diocesan resident. As we continue our mission to help God make this world a place where all are loved and cherished, Brad embodies that generous hospitality, and will be a great gift to our community.

The diocesan residency program places newly ordained clergy in congregations where the rector agrees to give them a broad-based pastoral experience that will prepare them for future ministry. The position is funded by the diocese and normally the resident moves on after two years. St. Timothy’s has had three other diocesan residents over the years: Heather Wiseman, Christopher Richardson, and Alex Martin. Heather and Alex both remained on the staff following their two-year residency.

Brad’s first Sunday will be June 23. He is married to Maggie Zilliox Gough. They have three children: Ainsley (13), Everly (10), and Crosley (7), and will be moving to Northern Kentucky on June 13.

Brad is a native of Northern Kentucky. He received his undergraduate degree from Eastern Kentucky University (BA in Art and Photography, 2005) and a Masters in Architecture from Miami University in 2009. Sponsored for ordination by The Church of the Redeemer, Hyde Park, Brad received his Masters of Divinity from The Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP) in Berkeley, CA this spring.

Prior to beginning his studies at CDSP, Brad was the Minister for Youth, Young Adults, and Families at Redeemer (2015—2021). He also was the Women’s soccer coach at Cincinnati Christian University (2010—2017). Brad will be ordained priest at Christ Church Cathedral, Saturday, June 15, 11:00am.

Following the 9:15 service on June 23, we will have a festive coffee hour to welcome the Gough family. I hope you will be able to join us in welcoming the newest members of this community.

Faithfully,

Roger

Scarecrow Build with the Kids

Sunday, July 7, 10:30am

The Creation Care Team will have the wooden base for the scarecrow and are encouraging the kids to bring old clothes to dress it. Their hope is to have the children see the process from seed to pumpkin. Fingers crossed and soil blessed we produce some. (If not, it’s a lesson that things don’t always go as planned.)

AROUND THE PARISH

We need your help!! Yours. Not your friend's. Not your spouse's. Not your child's. Yours.

In order to have a fully functioning Sunday service, we need people to do the required jobs. This includes reading scripture, leading the prayers, acolyting, ushering, setting up for the outdoor service, and doing the dishes (or cleaning up after as a member of Altar Guild). Volunteers are needed for all three in person services AND online.

While we love the people who have been faithfully serving the congregation in these positions and certainly don't want them to feel like they're being pushed out, we must have other people begin to take responsibility, so the regulars don't get burnt out or feel like it is all on them.

These are not difficult jobs, it just requires someone to raise their hand and say, "Yeah, I'll take ownership of x." If you're not currently serving at St. Tim's in some way, consider this your personal invitation!! If you're interested, please email Lousie at LouiseK@SaintTimothys.com

In closing, I'll riff on one of Roger's favorite sayings: we can't do what we don't have the people for.

The Spirit of God is active and moving in and through St. Timothy's!

Eastside Pride Picnic

A year ago, would we have thought we would be hosting the Eastside's inaugural Pride picnic? Nope! But the Holy Spirit moves where She wills, and we get to be caught up in Her current of change!

The Eastside Pride Committee worked so, so hard, planning everything from refreshments to restrooms and they absolutely knocked it out of the park. We were blessed by their presence and the neighborhood's attendance. But we were also blessed by YOU. Why was St. Tim's approached about hosting the picnic? Because of YOUR commitment to making this world a place where everyone is loved and accepted. It's easy to talk the talk, but embodying the radical love of Jesus that you all, the St. Tim's community, does...that's where the miracles happen. Thank YOU for being a light in the Anderson Township (and wider)areas, keep doing what you do to make this a "kingdom come" world.

Email Scam Warning

Unfortunately, there are multiple scam emails being sent to parishioners. The perpetrators have emails with Roger's name in them and have gone as far as taking his photo from our website. They can be convincing, but beware - they are scams. There isn't anything we can do about the impersonators except to flag the email as a fake account. If this happens to you, please report the email in your inbox.

Remember: Roger will NEVER email you asking for money or gift cards. ALL official correspondence from Roger will come from the @SaintTimothys.com address ONLY.

Be careful online - always check and double-check your links and accounts.
