For July and August, there will be one ebulletin for each month.
St. Clare Updates for
July 27 - August 30, 2024
| |
I hope you are enjoying the summer and that you are having some time to relax.
I want to bring to your attention some “church etiquette”:
-
Dress up etiquette: Men do not wear hats in the church. It is easy to forget about this, so when you notice someone in the church wearing a hat, please gently remind him about this.
-
Parking lot: Please be extremely careful as you arrive or leave our parking lot. There are other people and children walking around.
-
Communion: For those of you who receive Communion on your hand, remember that you must consume it as soon as you receive it. Walking with consecrated host is not allowed. If you notice someone doing it, please approach the person immediately but gently. On another note, if the host is too big for you to swallow, please inform a priest or Extra Ordinary Minister that you need a smaller piece.
And last but not least...we are looking for parishioners who would like to build connections with our members who are homebound, in a nursing home or require a drive to Mass. Please consider volunteering for this ministry. More information to follow in September.
Fr. Maciej

A Prayer of Gratitude
If you have been given much, if you have been raised in the faith and if you have been privileged with good examples in your life, then know God expects much of you. Answer that high calling that is given to you and respond to God with all your heart.
My passionate Jesus, You poured out Your heart and soul through Your preaching to the people of Israel. Although many accepted You, many others rejected You. I thank You for the privilege I have been given to hear Your holy Word preached to me. Help me to respond to You with all my heart so that I will be counted among those who listen and believe. Jesus, I trust in You.

Project Advance 2024!
The volunteers in the lobby are gone but our Project Advance 2024 Campaign continues until December 31st. Our commitment to the diocese this year is $61,300, but we hope to raise much more to help pay our mortgage. To date, we have received $30,704 in pledges from 84 of our families.
We are concerned that many of you still have not received Father’s letter and pledge form though the diocese mailed them weeks ago. If that is the case, Father’s letter is reprinted below, and pledge forms are available if you need them in the lobby (in the rack on the wall on the lefthand side as you exit the building).
As this year marks our 25th anniversary, Fr. Maciej has asked that we make a special effort to participate in this year’s Project Advance campaign to ensure that our parish continues to thrive for generations to come. Twenty-five years ago our property was just wooded lot, plus a house which became the rectory. Much of the funding that has given us the church, the parish centre plus the gardens and parking lots has come from Project Advance contributions.
If you have not yet donated, please take a few minutes to prayerfully consider what you and your family would like to donate this year. We would love to have 100% participation from our parishioners. Remember, every gift regardless of its size make a difference. Every gift counts.
You can contribute to Project Advance by completing a pledge form and either leaving it in a collection box or basket at the church, by dropping it off at the office or by mailing it to St. Clare of Assisi Parish, 1320 Johnson Street, Coquitlam, B.C. V3B 4T5. Cheques should be made out to Project Advance.
You can also go online at projectadvance.ca, or call 604-683-0281 ext. 323.
A special note for anyone who has donated and has any questions. Please email donations@rcav.org and they will help you. For example, they can tell you when your past pledge expires, how much you have pledged, and they can change your credit card or banking information or send you a duplicate tax receipt from past years.
Our way forward begins with your generosity in growing our parish and our local Catholic community. We’re grateful for your support. Thank you!

Help us keep the air we share in the church healthy and fragrance-free.
The chemicals used in scented products can make some people sick, especially those with fragrance sensitivities, asthma, allergies and other medical conditions.
Please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne, aftershave and other fragrances in the church. Use unscented personal care products.

STEWARDSHIP REFLECTION
17th Sunday in Ordinary Time
July 28
"There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish; but what good are these for so many?"
John 6:9
| | | |
The miracle of the loaves and fishes carries two important messages. First, no matter how little we have, we always have enough to share. Second, Christ can take our humble gifts and do great things with them if we are just willing to let Him. Nothing is impossible with God. All of our gifts were given to us for a reason— no gift is too small or insignificant!

DO YOU EVER ASK YOURSELF...
What am I looking for in life?
What is the meaning of my life?
How can I be a better person?
What can I do about the loneliness I feel?
How can I come to know God's love?
How can I know the right path God has in store for me?

Mass Intentions
Dates are subject to change without notice.

If you wish to book a Mass Intention, please send your request via email at stclareofassisi@shaw.ca giving the name of the person, whether it is for a living or deceased person, who it is from and if you have any preferences for the day of the week, a weekend mass or specific date. We will try to book your mass intention as close to the request as possible. Please note that there may be unforeseen situations when your scheduled date may be changed without notice.
The suggested offering for a mass intention is $10 and can be brought to the office, mailed to 1320 Johnson Street, Coquitlam, V3B 4T5 or dropped in the collection box in the church. Enclose your offering in an envelope clearly marked with the name and date of your Mass intention. Your offering will go to the priest who says the mass, not to the church.

In and Around the Diocese
The Archdiocese of Vancouver and Catholic Street Missionaries invite young adults 19-30 to join us for the Hope on the Horizon outreach and leadership program happening between August 6-21st in downtown Vancouver. The program is designed to introduce young people to the life of a street missionary, sharing a life of prayer and service with others who go out into the streets bringing the love of Jesus to the homeless. For two and a half weeks, participants will live a communal life, praying, learning, and reaching out to our homeless friends on the streets. There will be street outreach training, faith formation and personal skills development. We will also enjoy recreational activities together. Food and accommodation will be provided.

WORLDWIDE
MARRIAGE ENCOUNTER
October 25 - 27
Rekindle the romance, remind yourselves why you fell in love and learn how to make a good marriage even better!
| | | |
The goal of “Fiat” Women’s Online Discernment Group is to provide a prayerful environment for young women to discern their vocation, primarily the possible call to Religious Life. These women are given an opportunity to listen to and discuss certain topics about discernment and Religious life in general. Hopefully this Discernment Group will be a good preparation for women who are called to Religious Life to enter the community they are called to with peace and an adequate knowledge of what the Church is asking and desiring for Religious Life.
