Recently, many Bedford Road School third and fourth graders treated the community to a delightful production of the Wizard of Oz.

The BRS Drama Club’s presentation involved nearly 80 students, led by parent volunteers and supported by Music teacher Katherine Hughes (music accompaniment) and Science teacher Chrissie Moses (audio/visual).

Over the past several months, students and volunteers committed to rehearsals, participating in a production that allowed them to learn, develop confidence on stage, and make new friends.

This initiative complements the significant and varied opportunities in Pleasantville schools for students to experience a journey through the performing arts, from kindergarten through high school.

In a time-honored tradition, Pleasantville High School seniors paraded through the hallways of Bedford Road School, to the cheers of the elementary students, before making their way to Pleasantville Middle School to repeat the festivities.

Principal Joe Palumbo and Assistant Principal Gregg Fonde greeted seniors as they arrived at BRS to pick up their caps, gowns, and all-important tassels.

Awaiting the seniors at BRS was a display of class photos from their younger years. After donning their graduation attire, the seniors trotted through the hallways to chants of “Yay Seniors.” Adorned in their caps and gowns, they walked to PMS where they were greeted with cheers of “Here we go seniors, here we go!”

Along the way, the seniors high-fived and exchanged smiles with the younger pupils and exchanged hugs with former teachers before heading back to the high school, where the first photo was captured of the soon-to-be graduates in their caps and gowns.
