I am writing to inform you that the administrative team has been discussing measures to ensure the safety of our students and staff during the very hot temperatures in the coming days.
All Regents and final exams at both the middle and high school will proceed as scheduled. We do not need to make any changes because we have ample air conditioned and/or cool spaces.
For middle school students, air conditioned/cool spaces will be available either within the middle school or at the high school.
Elementary students have a fully air conditioned experience at BRS and we will limit access to outdoors when the temperatures are unsafe. If the weather is unsafe, recess and physical education classes will be indoors with activities adjusted to limit student exertion.
We will continue to monitor the weather closely. Building principals may provide additional updates regarding plans that impact a class, grade or building-specific event.
At this time, I do not anticipate any changes to the hours of operation. We are confident that we can accommodate the needs of our students and staff in air conditioned/cool spaces to keep them safe from the heat.
