Welcome to our Newest BOP Staff

Gavin D'Avanther, Business Advisor

The BOP is proud to welcome Gavin D'Avanther as our newest Business Advisor. Gavin comes to the BOP to lead our new extension program, the Business Development Support Program.

Gavin served for nearly ten years as Operations Manager and Business Unit Manager for a local business in the special events industry. She has worked as a Program Director for a couple of local non-profit organizations. She currently also works for PlayWrite, Inc. a local non-profit offering playwriting workshops to at-risk teens. She is in the process of completing her MBA through Portland State University.

"I am thrilled to join the Advisor Team at the BOP. I love partnering with passionate people to help them succeed. It's so exiting to watch the owners grow and the businesses evolve. Every client captures my heart, teaches me something new, and changes me in amazing and unexpected ways."

Erica Schubach, Accounting Intern

Erica Schubach, Accounting Intern

Erica joined the BOP in September and just completed her accounting coursework at PSU.  She has worked as a bookkeeper for a small web development business for three years, which helped her discover the need for accountants who specialize in meeting the needs of the diverse array of small businesses in Portland.  Erica plans to use her Accounting Intern experience to start her own small business bookkeeping and accounting business next year. She is proud to be a part of the BOP and have an opportunity to work with so many amazing, talented, and driven business owners.

Outside of work, Erica spends way too much time cooking, enjoys biking, hiking with her beagle, Marley, and black lab, Sophie, and loves the Portland Timbers.

Exciting New Program to Support Small Businesses

PSU Business Outreach Program (BOP) is excited to announce that we are extending our reach in 2013 with the launch of a new program to serve Portland Metro Area small businesses. Through our Business Development Support Program (BDSP), we will be able to serve a larger geographic area with more inclusive eligibility requirements.

Clients selected for this program will work with a professional Business Advisor to receive personalized business support and technical assistance for a period of one year. Through our new cohort-learning model, clients will also participate in monthly learning and networking events with other business owners who are in similar business stages or are operating in related industries.
