Dear Friends,

This Week, as we continue Older Americans Month, I would like to thank all the sponsors who have participated in Health Fairs for Seniors throughout the city.

Memorial Day is May 30th, so please keep an eye out for Senior Military Veterans who also need our help. They are usually too proud to ask for help.

New Health Care Model Emphasizes Team Work.

Today's rapidly changing health care marketplace is increasing focused on providing team-based care - health care that is developed, coordinated and delivered by a team of clinicians including physician assistants and nurse practitioners.

The days of the autocratic top-down physician-driven world are at an end, and a new care model that involves physicians working in partnership with other clinicians is replacing it.

Older Caregivers at Greater Risk

Caring for a loved one who is ill is always stressful, but older people caring for a spouse who has dementia may face an increased risk for cognitive problem or dementia themselves, researchers report.

The new study, published in the May issue of the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, warns that caregivers need support to maintain their own mental health and ability to care for their loved ones.
