DANVILLE COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Op-ed with Dr. Jerry Wallace: Marching Toward Success!

Spring is just around the corner and March has been an exceptionally busy and exciting month for partnerships, events, and outreach at Danville Community College!

DCC kicked off the month of March by inviting their retirees to enjoy a delicious breakfast at their student center, while members of the Executive Cabinet shared all of the exciting things happening in their areas. DCC always value the insight and knowledge that our retirees bring to the table, and especially enjoy hearing about their advocacy for the college as they are out in the community.

On March 6, Dr. Wallace visited Halifax County to attend the Board of Supervisors meeting and present the many initiatives and programs that are currently under development or being launched at DCC. It was a pleasure to share this information with the Board of Supervisors and the many attending members of the community. Halifax County is a huge part of the DCC service region and DCC is excited to continue to support the area through education and workforce development.

The event kicked off with welcome remarks from Danville Community College President, Dr. Jerry Wallace, followed by a formal introduction of DCC’s new Vice President of Workforce Services, Mr. Mark Funkey. Attendees enjoyed food and drink as they learned about the many ways DCC is addressing workforce development challenges in partnership with local industry.

GEORGE WASHINGTON HIGH SCHOOL
George Washington High School Class of 1983
Still Eagle Strong

Dear Community Leader,

As a proud graduate of George Washington High School, we are excited to be in the planning stages of our 40th reunion! Our theme is “The Survivor Tour”, where we will also be giving back to the 2023 graduating students in May and to the G.W. staff in October 2023 when our reunion will be held.

One of the goals for our reunion is to utilize as many different local businesses as possible over the course of the three days. With that in mind, we are seeking people and/or companies that would either like to help sponsor an area of the event with a monetary donation or by supplying a door prize for our Saturday evening festivities. We will be honoring all of our sponsors by publishing their name and/or business in our reunion handouts.

If you have any further questions, please contact Susan Ketchum at 434-548-4672. We appreciate your time and consideration in helping us bring back that Eagle pride!

Sincerely,
G.W. Class of 1983
