Carl Yettru's Legacy

On Friday, September 8th, Carl Yettru, a beloved Kingswood volunteer and camper patriarch passed away peacefully surrounded by his cherished family and went Home where his life-long Faith had led him.

Born in 1927, Carl’s 96 years were well lived, full of grace, love and centered on faith, family and service.

Planning for 2024

Every once in.while we have a 9-week season due to the late ending of school and an early Labor Day. This happens in 2024. Our season will run from June 28th through September 2nd. Reservations will open for full week stays beginning January 2nd. Shorter stays can be booked beginning on March 15th.

Firefly Reservation System

Due to privacy laws, the new reservation system did not carry over your personal information.  You will need to enter your name, address and credit card information. The site map remains the same, but you will be able to peruse pictures to make your site choice.   Videos specific to Kingswood will be posted in late December to help you make your reservation.

On Site Insight Corner

When planning for camp, freeze your meats for the first few days at camp in plastic bags. The meats will thaw slowly, but they will also keep your cooler cold.

Did you know you can borrow pie irons from the barn. One of the easiest and kid friendly recipes for lunch is below.

The Winner Is...

Thank you to all who submitted a survey. It helps us immensely to evaluate our practices and to plan for the next season.

The winner of the free bundle of wood is Amber Cogswell.

Hancock Education Foundation's

Summer Visit 2024 is Set

The third annual visit for Hancock Community Education Foundation’s summer program is set for July 19, 2024. Volunteers are needed to make the day a success. Can you assist with cooking over a fire, help with crafts,  lead a hike or row a boat? You can help us make a great summer memory for a group of local kids.  We’re also looking for a couple of lifeguards to allow the children more swim time. Click below to email for more details.

Summer 2023 by the Numbers

Overlook Near was the most used site.

$1578 was collected for wood sales.

Our tractor, Harry, turned 70 years old.

About 80 volunteers of all ages contributed to the success of Kingswood this summer. That's about 20 less than usual.

566 unique campers visited Kingswood this summer.

Binghamton weather station received more than 13 inches of rain in July and August. This is about 5 inches more than usual resulting in much more mud than usual.

Increase in Price for Block Ice

If you camped at the end of the summer, you may have been surprised to see the containers of ice cost 50 cents more. The price increase was necessary because we needed to purchase new jugs because so many jugs were not returned to the barn to be used again. After some guests departed we found jugs damaged in the sites. One day we just didn’t have any to fill. Each jug costs 50 cents to replace. Please be sure to help keep ice affordable by returning the jugs to the barn as part of your camping routine.

Can't Wait to Return

If you can't wait to return, consider renting the farmhouse this fall or winter or next spring. You have the entire camp available for your family's or group's recreation.
