A debut in Asia, a major U.S. premiere, and some of the greatest choral works in the canon - Kent's 2016-17 season is announced!  Here are some of the highlights:

  • The U.S. premiere of Rautavaara's Vigilia (full work), described by Gramophone magazine as "a delicious blend of ancient and modern modes," with the Cathedral Choir of St. John the Divine (November 15)
     
  • The third choral masterpiece collaboration from the Manhattan School of Music, the Oratorio Society of New York, and the Cathedral of St. John the Divine: Britten's War Requiem (April 6 & 7)
     
  • Programs of Palestrina, Pärt, and Tavener (October 5) and Bach, Brahms, and Britten (March 8) with Musica Sacra
     
  • Mozart's "Great" Mass in C Minor (November 3) and Bach's Mass in B Minor (May 8) with the Oratorio Society of New York
     
  • Organ recitals in Florida, Georgia, and St. Thomas (Virgin Islands) as well as at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine

...near New London, Connecticut: Kent leads the Choral Workshop of the Amherst Early Music Festival at Connecticut College - and the workshop's concert (Schütz, J.S. Bach, and J.C Bach) takes place on Saturday, July 16, at 11 AM.

...at the Alpensia Resort in PyeongChang, South Korea: Kent makes his Asian debut at the Great Mountains Music Festival and School conducting Beethoven's Coriolanus Overture and Mass in C Major on Saturday, July 30, at 7:30 PM.

...hanging around the Lincoln Center fountain: Musica Sacra performs with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra under the baton of Louis Langrée in Mozart's Così fan tutte - a concert performance of this summer's Aix-en-Provence production! - as part of the Mostly Mozart 50th Anniversary Season on Monday, August 15, at 7:30 PM.

...in Dublin or London: Kent leads a tour with Cathedral Choristers, Scholars and members of the Cathedral Choir of St. John the Divine:  they sing services at Dublin's Christ Church Cathedral on August 21, and are in residence singing services at London's Westminster Abbey, August 24-28.

Kent Tritle is one of America's leading choral conductors. Called "the brightest star in New York's choral music world" by The New York Times, he is Director of Cathedral Music and Organist at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City; Music Director of the Oratorio Society of New York, the acclaimed 200-voice volunteer chorus; and Music Director of Musica Sacra, the longest continuously performing professional chorus in New York City. In addition, Kent is Director of Choral Activities and Chair of the Organ Department at the Manhattan School of Music and is a member of the graduate faculty of The Juilliard School.
