Easter Sunday at GIPC was full of music, worship, fellowship and food! Click the photo above to see more GIPC Easter moments. One of many features of our Easter Breakfast was a photo booth. Did you get your picture taken at the photo booth? Share with us, and we'll include them in the next few newsletters. Send your other Easter photos, too! Send them to communications@gipc.org. What does the future of youth ministry look like at GIPC? We need you to help us answer that question! Join us this Sunday, April 7 following worship, as we do the work to craft mission and vision statements for the youth program here at GIPC. Help us provide for our youth and the youth in our community! Lunch will be provided. Please sign up at the Crossroads or email Grace Morton (gmorton@gipc.org).

Sermon Talkback You're invited to join us this Sunday at noon to discuss the sermon. Grab a cup of coffee and a treat and meet us in the foyer outside Fellowship Hall by the grandfather clock.

Financial and Environmental Benefits for GIPC

by Guido Colarossi

GIPC's Property committee has been collaborating with DTE's consulting director and engineer to learn about possible energy savings for the church. GIPC stands to reap numerous benefits for future generations by embracing good energy practices and processes today.

Organizations often face challenges related to the high cost of energy which can negatively impact financial stability. Investing in efficient energy consumption will lead to lower utility bills and operating cost. This in turn can allow our financial resources to be redirected. GIPC needs to be an environmental steward, so that we can meet the future generation's needs and allow more mission support for the elderly and needy.

On March 27 we successfully hosted our first DTE system/facility walk through along with a lunch and learn session.

DTE has informed GIPC about

  • rebate programs available to us
  • low-cost loans geared to creating an energy and environmentally friendly footprint
  • continuous training programs for our staff
  • in-house follow up to ensure that we stay current
  • optimization of our processes and methods
  • a list of DTE contractors

All this and more at no cost to our church!

As you know, the Property committee has already identified some future projects such as Pella replacement windows and digitizing of our equipment, just to mention a few. These will be all be eligible for DTE rebates.

Thanks to the entire team for an excellent job well done in hosting DTE and providing a solid beginning to protecting not only our members but our environmental footprint.

Wednesday Night Dinner on April 10 will be Kielbasa and sauerkraut. Serving will start at 6 p.m. You may stay and have your meal in Fellowship Hall, or fill a carryout container to take home. Dinner costs $5 per person, $15 max per family. Please make reservations by calling the church office (734-676-8811) or emailing Lyndsey Williams (lyndseyjambeau@yahoo.com). Tell us whether you're dining in or taking carryout when you make your reservation. Reservations by Monday are appreciated.

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

...for your support of our four Special Offerings at GIPC! As a Four for Four congregation, have you ever wondered about our level of giving for these Special Offerings? As we begin our Pentecost Special Offering April 1 - May 19, I would like to share the amount of giving generated by GIPC over the last few years.

  • 2020: $1,925
  • 2021: $2,010
  • 2022: $1,512
  • 2023: $2,352

In 2023, we joined fellow Presbyterians in donating together a total of $532,396.00. This total number does not include the amount (40%) that congregations retained for use in their local congregations and communities. Last year we chose to split our 40% between two local missions: Bottoms Up Diaper Bank and Community Grown Gardens Kindergarten Farm to Table Program. They received $470 each from our Pentecost donations.

This year our local Pentecost Offering recipients are 1st Step and Kids’ Talk. They will share the 40% of our annual Pentecost Offering. Offering envelops may be found in the pews. There is also information at the Crossroads to donate online. GIPC does get credit for online donations. More details to follow about our 2024 local recipients.

When we all give a little, it adds up to a lot!
