Outreach to MSU Students #1

9:00AM-12PM

This Saturday, we'll be serving the returning students and incoming freshmen as they move into their dorms and apartments by handing out Grace Hill water bottles.  The plan is to meet at 9am at the Panera on National and Elm, grab a bagel and then head over to campus and hand out water.  If you are planning on coming, please let me know by emailing Brett.  Also, if you have a cooler that rolls, please let me know, we'd love to borrow it.

Hands of Hope @ Convoy of Hope

6:30PM-8:30PM

Do you want to help alleviate some of the suffering of this world, particularly following the devastation of a natural disaster?  Then, join us next Tuesday night at Convoy of Hope as we lend a hand boxing, labeling, moving, and inventorying relief supplies that get shipped to those hard-hit areas.  If you can join us, we'll meet up at the Convoy of Hope headquarters on Chestnut Expressway and Patterson.  Email Brett if you have any questions.

September 2
Outreach to MSU Students #2

10:30AM-1:30PM

We have an exciting opportunity to interact with hundreds of MSU Students at the annual Sample Springfield event right in front of the Plaster Student Union.  We'll have a tent set up where we'll be giving away kettle korn, bottled water and info about Grace Hill Church.  According to several MSU insiders, this is the event of the year for a church like ours.  Hope you can join us.

grace hill t-shirts are in

Our Grace Hill t-shirts are in and you can pick yours up on Sunday or if you are coming to the outreach on Saturday, I'll have them there.  We have lots of sizes to choose from and as I mentioned before, the men's shirts are forest green and the women's shirts are dark chocolate.  Cost for the shirts are $10.

thank you, thank you!

I know this summer has been a little chaotic with anywhere from 6 to 10 of our core group out each Sunday for vacation, sickness, etc.  Those of you who stepped in and did more than you might normally do, I cannot thank you enough.  Your tireless work on behalf of Grace Hill is so encouraging to me, and I can't imagine doing this with anyone else than you guys.  So thank you from the bottom of my heart on a job well done this Summer.

  a note about time

I'm realizing that I need to lead us better in the area of being on time.  One area is in starting the worship service on time.  Invariably new people come in right at 10:30 and I want to greet them, but that usually means the service gets started late, like 10:40.  I want to go back to starting our service on time at 10:30, which means that Tony, Valerie and I need to be ready to start at 10:30.  To facilitate that, the three of us (and anyone else who wants to join us) will meet at 10:15 to pray for the service.  Then promptly at 10:30, Tony and Valerie will take to the stage and start the service.

Another area of time we need to tighten up is being at Cherokee at the assigned time to help set up.  I haven't been as clear on what those times are, so I have included that up above.  Let me know if you have questions about this.

home groups start september 19

home groupsOn September 19th, our small group ministry, which we call "Home Groups" will begin meeting.  Home Groups are designed to be places where we can be "at home" in Christ and cherish and delight in one another as we live out the gospel in practical ways.  Each Home Group will consist of a shared meal, a facilitated discussion of the morning sermon using pre-written questions, and a time of prayer (don't worry you won't have to pray in front of people if you don't want to.)  Most groups will meet on Sunday evenings from 5:30 to 7pm in host homes all throughout the metro area.  If you would like to sign up for a group, please email Brett and he will get in touch with you.
