Greetings!
It has been an exciting first half of the year for FutureSelf. We moved into a new location (29 E Bijou), offered fantastic programming to over 100 young people aged 12-22, and continued to be a voice for self expression and creative exploration four youth in the Colorado Springs community. Please read on for more information on upcoming programs, a special benefit event, and some words from one of our dedicated volunteers. Also included is a call for youth artists and a call for supplies.

As always, thank you for your interest in FutureSelf. As we move into the second half of 2011, please consider joining us as a partner in our celebration of arts based youth development. There are many ways to contribute to FutureSelf, including: volunteering, cooking a meal for a workshop, donating supplies, and making a financial investment in our mission through an  online donation.  Thoughts from a Volunteer

Before going back to school in Philadelphia for an Arts Administration degree, I decided to spend the summer in Colorado and found a unique experience volunteering with FutureSelf. By participating in a recent workshop, I was able to assist youth, help the guest artist and facilitators run the workshop and luckily, was able to create art of my own. The kids in this particular workshop participated in a wide and colorful range of activities, including bookmaking, visualization and drama exercises, as well as mask-making. It was exciting to watch these budding artists learn about their own creative process and encourage them to express themselves freely. I entered into a very warm, inspiring and creative circle, and I am so thankful for this experience. I hope to always be involved in programs as valuable and inspiring as FutureSelf.
