Beneath the Surface: Networking in the Wabasha Street Caves

Stepping into the Wabasha Caves for a networking event is like stepping into another world. FPA of MN members were transported back in time, surrounded by remnants of the past while engaging in discussions about the future.  Everyone had a chance to meet other professionals with the unique ambiance of the caves serving as an icebreaker and sparking conversations. In addition to meeting amazing professionals, we got a chance to get a quick tour and find out about the history and ghosts on the property. Our next event will be at the end of June. We look forward to seeing everyone there!

FPA of MN Commerce Feedback Session

Members of the FPA met with the Department of Commerce to provide feedback and seek clarification on legislation impacting the industry. The proposed legislation for investment adviser representative (IAR) continuing education (CE) seeks adoption of the NASAA IAR CE model rule already adopted in 18 other states. The model rule requires IARs to report twelve credits of continuing education every year: six for products and practice and six for ethics and professional responsibility. If you have a professional designation or are registered as an agent of a FINRA member broker-dealer that complies with FINRA’s continuing education requirements, you may not need to take additional CE. If enacted the legislation will be effective January 1, 2025.

If you have questions or feedback, please reach out to Amanda Kelting or Annette Minor at the Department of Commerce.

FPA of MN Book Club – Powered by the DEI Committee

April 30, 2024 | 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM

We are excited to announce our next book selection for our upcoming meeting: A Place for Us by Brandon J. Wolf. This memoir delves into the deeply personal journey of self-discovery and acceptance experienced by the author as a gay man in contemporary America. Wolf shares his story of growing up in a conservative Christian family in the South, navigating the complexities of his sexual orientation, and finding his place in a society that too often marginalizes LGBTQ+ individuals. Through his candid reflections on relationships, identity, and resilience, Wolf offers profound insights into the challenges and triumphs of coming out and embracing one's true self.

Join us as we explore the themes of love, family, and belonging in "A Place for Us." We look forward to engaging discussions and meaningful reflections on this powerful memoir.
