FEBRUARY 3RD COLDEST ON RECORD

The average temperature in February was 17.5 degrees as recorded by the National Weather Service.

Only two other Februaries locally have been colder since 1901, when record-keeping started: February 1934 with an average temperature of 15.4 degrees and February 1979 with an average temp of 15.9 degrees.

BETTER CELL PHONE SERVICE ON THE WAY
As some of you might of heard by now, a new Verizon Wireless cell tower is to be construct on the back side Joe Harcum's property. The state has been working with Verizon to improve cell service in the area so that Emergency Responders have better communication.  Reliable cell service in our area would benefit everyone not just for the convenience, but for the safety of everyone who lives, works and plays in and around the Duck Harbor area. Over the winter Verizon had core samples drilled to finalize the towers location. As of now the expected construction and activation of the tower should be online by end of year 2015.

HOLE IN ONE
Enlarged screw holes can be quickly repaired by filling the hole with a wooden golf tee and some glue. Saw the tee flush with the wood's surface, then sand and finish. Let glue dry before drilling new hole for screw. The same process can be done with smaller holes with toothpicks.
