REMINDER!

OUR CONFERENCE

IS JUST DAYS AWAY!

Things are heating up here at the international headquarters of The Conference on Death Grief and Belief. If you haven't registered for the conference yet, we want to remind you that it's just a couple weeks away. You'll find all the details HERE (and in related story, below).

If you can't attent live, in real time, no worries! Everything will be recorded, so you can watch all the presentations at your convenience, with no expiration date (but CE credits can't be given for watching the recordings).

We're still putting some finishing touches on the schedule, but for the most part, we are ready to roll, and we'd love to see you there!

We also want to let you know about some other important conferences coming up that address everything from near-death experience and hospice care to the medical use of psychedelics. You'll find all that information in the left-hand column.

Our 2024 theme will be "Perspectivse and Practices Across the Spiritual Spectrum," and we're specifically looking for presentations on Pagan, Buddhist, Muslim and Atheist approaches to death and grief. If you would like to be considered as a speaker, please fill out THIS FORM. Please note these requirements:

. You must provide a video sample of you giving a presentation

. Because we issue CE credits for these presentations, you must have at least a

masters degree in a related field.

Physician Attitudes Toward Hospice

Physician education is essential to timely and appropriate access to hospice care. Gaps in clinical education models have been associated with under-utilization of these services. In fact, a much higher number of patients seek out hospice care than just those that actually receive physician instructions for it, according to a 2021 study from Trella Health. READ MORE...

Disability and Bad Theology

“When we limit our understanding of faithfulness or of holiness to nondisabled people,” said Amy Kenny, a Shakespeare scholar and author of My Body is Not a Prayer Request. it limits our understanding of God, and it allows for us to be fooled into thinking that independence is a virtue, and non-disability is somehow holy, or good.” This might be termed “theological ableism.”  READ MORE...

Sensual Faith:

Making Peace with our Bodies

"In my mind’s eye, I’m talking to Black women, 18 to 45, currently or formerly “churched,” who always had this hunch that there’s got to be more to it than this — religion, faith, God, spirituality." READ MORE...

Pope Refuses to Bless Someone's Dog

The head of the Catholic church, who has accused those who do not have children of “selfishness” despite not fathering any of his own, said he publicly lambasted the woman, telling her: “So many children are hungry and you bring me a little dog.” READ MORE...
