I don't often comment on politics and current events here, but I feel compelled to make this statement. As someone whose work focuses on identifying toxic theologies, the only way I’m able to look at the Israel/Palestine situation is through the lens of religious scholarship (vs. having any political, tribal or cultural affiliations).
I hope you will read the article included this month about religious rationalizations on both sides. It's a paper by a graduate student in international conflict resolution, offering a balanced view of the ways both sides use religious belief to support their positions.
When a debate is rooted in religious mythology, nobody ever wins. The only solution is for all views to peacefully co-exist, but when one party wants to dominate the other, each believing that "God" is on their side, how can peace ever be possible?
