A common myth is that children may not be impacted like adults after a death. In fact, it's not uncommon to hear comments such as "They are too young to understand" when referring to children's experiences of loss. Join Dougy Center staff for this free webinar where we dispel myths and raise awareness about children's grief.

Dougy Center hosts International Summer Institute

Last week, Dougy Center hosted its International Summer Institute. Professionals from across the country and around the world joined Dougy Center staff to learn the fundamentals of developing and operating peer support groups for children, teens, and families.

Thank you to all the participants who traveled from near and far for their dedication to supporting children and families who are grieving.

Applications for the 2025 International Summer Institute will be available early next year on dougy.org.

Six Word Poem: An activity for children, teens, and adults who are grieving

Did you know you can write a poem using just six words? It can be about grief, about your person who died, or about someone in your family living with an advanced serious illness.

Here are some examples:

  • They’ve been gone two years today.
  • Grief blankets everything until it doesn’t.
  • His shirt still smells like him.
