Cook Inlet Navigation Risk Assessment Project Update
The Advisory Panel met on February 22 to review submitted risk  reduction options (RRO) and identified several options that warrant further consideration or analysis. The Panel also selected a few RROs for immediate or ongoing implementation. The meeting summary provides a list and brief explanation of Advisory Panel decisions for each RRO. Grace Merkes: Homesteader, Homemaker, Tireless Volunteer
Grace Merkes has been involved with Cook Inlet RCAC since 1998 and currently

sits on the Executive, Audit, and Prevention, Response, Operations & Safety (PROPS) Committees. Grace was president of the Board in 2010, served on the Environmental Monitoring Committee for two years (2003-2004), and chaired the PROPS Committee in 2006. Read more.

Jack-up rig gets ABS certification The jack-up drilling rig Endeavour - Spirit of Independence has received its ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) Certification and can now move to the Cosmopolitan site. Before it can commence drilling operations in Cook Inlet, the Buccaneer Energy Ltd. rig still needs US Coast Guard and Alaska Oil & Gas Conservation Commission approval, and to satisfy the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation's request for additional information for the Cook Inlet Exploration Program oil discharge and prevention contingency plan amendment to include the Cosmopolitan site.
