KRIS GREENE TO RETIRE
FROM CRS

Kris Greene started as a staff member on January 3, 2011 after being a volunteer for many years.  Almost 10 years to the day,  she will be retiring from CRS. Kris had many responsibilities over the years including Pantry Manager, Volunteer Coordinator, and Client Services Coordinator. She also was in charge of our Back to School Backpack Program and the Salvation Army Bell Ringers. Kris will be missed by the staff, our volunteers and our clients too.  She has a big heart and always treated them with respect and kindness.

We wish Kris the best as she embarks on this new chapter of her life.  We hope she spends her retirement traveling with her husband Tom, and playing with her beautiful grandchildren!

CHARITY BALL NEWS

The Charity Ball committee has begun the planning for a truly special virtual event. While we will miss gathering with you in person to celebrate CRS and all of the good things we do in our community, we need to make the health and safety of our guests, staff and volunteers our top priority.  So mark your calendar for Saturday, January 30, 2021 and watch for exciting details to follow!

Meijer Simply Give Campaign

Meijer will once again be inviting their customers to join a combined effort to fight hunger by purchasing the $10 Simply Give donation cards through in-store displays located at each check-out register.  All donations will directly benefit our food pantry! The campaign goes through Saturday, January 2, 2021.

Meijer's 2019 Simply Give Campaign resulted in a donation to CRS of $5,070 in food only gift cards that we used to purchase items for our food pantry! Meijer is a family company focused on enriching the lives in the communities they serve, especially during these challenging times. We are grateful for the support that we receive!

Independence Village
Holiday Car Parade

Your help is needed to celebrate the holiday season with the residents of Independence Village! On Saturday, December 19th at 2:00, they will be having a drive-by car parade. Decorate your vehicle, roll down your windows, play Christmas carols on your radio and wave to the residents who will be watching safely from indoors.  The car parade is in place of the Annual Wreath Auction that benefits CRS.  If you would like to participate, please RSVP by Friday, December 18th to 440-930-7100.  All participants will receive a complimentary to-go holiday mason jar with hot chocolate!

Holiday Assistance Programs

As we wrap up our Holiday Assistance Programs for this year, we are reminded of the overwhelming generosity of so many individuals, schools, businesses, organizations and churches that donated to one of more of these programs! Santa's Workshop was stocked full of toys, coats, pajamas and amazing family baskets! The Senior gift bags were filled with special items that they are sure to love! Volunteers sorted and packed food baskets, delivered some of our senior gifts bags, and helped shop at Santa's Workshop for children's wish list items!

We couldn't have done all of this without the help of our entire community so THANK YOU for helping us make this holiday season better for so many people! We are truly blessed!

Virtual Staff/Board Toast

In place of the Annual Staff/Board dinner, we celebrated a successful year at CRS by having a virtual toast via Zoom!  So much looked different in 2020 but what didn't change was the work we do to deliver assistance to the residents of Avon and Avon Lake that struggle to make ends meet. We look forward to a time where we can all meet together again!
