News from Chartres

Veriditas arrived in Chartres May 15 to host two cycles of our Walking
A Sacred Path Program. To our surprise, the renovation schedule was
running a little behind and we found the labyrinth still open for a
Friday  public walk.

On Monday, May18, we witnessed the labyrinth being covered by floor
boarding followed by scaffolding. It will remain closed for an
estimated one year period. We were prepared with an exact replica of
the Chartres labyrinth made in canvas transported to France in three
suitcases of 45 + pounds each.   This was due to a generous donation
from canvas labyrinth maker, John Ridder of Paxworks! Thanks to John,
Veriditas' Walking A Sacred Path Program participants walked a
candlelit path through the crypt to the canvas labyrinth in the
Cathedral accompanied by Fulbert Ensemble as is our well known
tradition and highlight of our Chartres experience. Veriditas will be
loaning the Cathedral this lovely canvas labyrinth for others to walk
on during the year of renovation that covers the actual stone
labyrinth.   Above is a photo of the canvas labyrinth as laid out in
the South transept of the Cathedral.
