Keeping the Body Moving.

The wrist or carpus should easily bend so that the pads touch the back of the leg.

The carpus has two rows of small bones that allows for a smooth flexion and extension of the area.

In the cats the normal wrist also should flexes freely touching the back of the leg.

Cats also have a small pad on the back of the carpus that protects the area when running.

The full flexibility allows graceful movements from walking to jumping.

In contrast, a stiff carpus cannot fully flex. This carpus is limited to half the normal movement that it should have.

The flexibility for running and jumping is limited. The stiffness may lead to injuries and can be painful.

Some causes that can lead to a stiffer joint may be due to contracted tendons, arthritis, over use, and infection of the joint.

Signs of Abdominal Pain

One of the early signs often missed in abdominal pain is the bow position.  The bow position has the hips elevated with the head low. The face will look stressed with lip licking.  The tail may be held at an odd angle.  The patient may even back up. The symptom may or may not be repeated.

Pain may be due to, gall bladder disease, gas distention of the intestines, or foreign body in the gastrointestinal system.

Off To Mexico!

The Care butterfly group
has raised and released over 800 healthy butterflies
 this year.
The last generation will make an attempt to fly to Mexico
to over winter in the mountains.
If all goes well, their
future generations will arrive back here in the spring.

Still Ticks
Ticks are still a problem
this year.
Even when on prevention, ticks can embed into the skin.
NexGard
prevention killed
the tick, however it needed
to be manually removed.
