"...the production stands out most for its dancing. Choreographer Camille A. Brown commands her sliver of the stage with movement that variously slinks and shimmies and soars."  ~   DC Theater Scene
"...
imaginative choreography...very sophisticated and impressively executed by the ensemble
."  ~ Theatermania
"...
in her vivid and unusual dances, based on contemporary social forms but feeling at the same time oddly angled and modern, that the world of A Cabin in the Sky achieved a specific physical life. She tells her own story, not someone else's - and, ultimately, that may be the best reason for Encores! to keep exploring the difficult tradition from which A Cabin in the Sky arose. Appropriated stories should eventually be taken back."  ~ Vulture

BLACK GIRL MOVEMENT CONFERENCE
Columbia University | New York, NY
April 7 - 9, 2016

Black Girl Movement: A National Conference is a three-day gathering at Columbia University in New York City to focus on Black girls, cis, queer, and trans girls, in the United States.

Bringing together artists, activists, educators, policymakers, and black girls leaders themselves, this first national conference on Black girls seeks to address the disadvantages that Black girls in the United States face, while creating the political will to publicly acknowledge their achievements, contributions, and leadership.
