A Message from Father Jon

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

This coming Sunday after the 10 a.m. service we will have our annual parish meeting! This is our time as a congregation to hear the 2024 budget proposal and for all church members to vote to approve it.

It’s also a time for us to vote on incoming vestry positions. And then we vote for the delegates and alternates to serve during our diocesan convention.

Whether we are voting for vestry members or diocesan delegates and alternates our goal is to vote for individuals who will vote their conscience for what is best for our parish and for our diocesan family. Every vestry member is charged with the opportunity to vote their conscience from the information that they are privy to in vestry discussions and again what is in the best interest, according to their perspective, for the life of the congregation. It is not a part of the vestry role to vote necessarily for what is popular or for special interests.

So when voting Sunday we want our vestry members to understand that their role is in partly to represent the congregation and to also understand that they are to vote what they believe matters most for our parish life as a whole.

I hope that you will join me in celebrating what has happened in 2023 and in looking ahead into the rest of 2024.

God loves you and together we are indeed stronger!

Blessings, Fr. Jon

P.S. Please remember to bring a side dish for the potluck this week.

Thank you!

For those who have died and for those who loved them.

For peace in the Middle East, the people of the Holy Land and all people under threat of war or violence, they are preserved and comforted, and all those who have the authority to make decisions about their future are blessed with wisdom and compassion.

We continue to pray for the healing of our nation with justice and peace, for wisdom in our leaders, and for all those experiencing illness, hardship, or loss because of the coronavirus, flu, and RSV.

In our diocesan cycle of prayer we raise up the Episcopal Youth Community; Cindy Sigmon, Youth Missioner and Daughters of the King, Diocesan chapter; Martha Davenport, President.

Generally, names will remain on the prayer list for three weeks. If your person's name is removed and you wish to have him/her put back on the list, please call Tammy at the office (325-2328).
