This weather has been incredible for flying. Clear days, warm temperatures and lots of Blue Sky and sunshine. There is no snow from Chicago to northern Michigan, Wisconsin, to Kansas City and Ohio. The runways are clear and dry. The weather for the rest of the week, January 11th through the 14th looks more typically wintery but after that I think we're going to see improving visibility and ceilings. Now's the time to plan your weekend getaway! Remember the 20" snow storm last year that shut down Lakes Shore Drive?
Your captain just completed a 5 and 1/2 hour "Line Check" flight exam with the FAA and is deemed ready, willing and able to fly. Those exams are tough. They require an oral exam covering Federal Air Regulations, aircraft systems, performance, maintenance, emergency procedures and normal operations, just to name a few items. The flight portion includes emergency procedures including scenarios in deploying the aircraft emergency parachute system, engine and system malfunctions and management scenarios, instrument approaches, unusual attitudes and recoveries, take offs and landings and virtually every aspect of aircraft operations on the ground and in the air. It's a tough exam with a lot on the line and takes a lot of preparation. The good news is that I get to welcome you aboard Cirrus 192BS for another six months!
Blue Sky Taxi 192BS also passed it's 100 hour maintenance inspection with flying colors. We are required to do scheduled maintenance every 50 hours, 100 hours and annually to remain in compliance with Federal Air Regulations. We'd do it anyway, required or not just for safety!
So we're ready. The weather is great! Why not take advantage of a long mid-winter weekend getaway? Give a call. We'd love to fly with you.
