Arsenal Boys Enjoy Summer Camp 2012 Summer Camp
By Kevin Koptieff

Arsenal FC held its Annual Boys Summer Camp. First session was a huge success with over 150 players in attendance. Coaches focused on individual skills as well as 1v1s and 2v2s. Both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. We wrapped up the week with a 5v5 world cup mini tournament and a day at Camp Pendelton's Del Mar Beach. The boys had a very intense physical work out in the sand going from station to station where coaches pushed them in different exercises from speed and agility to strength training. After a break for lunch the boys did some Navy Seal like training in the sand and water that they all seemed to enjoy.

There were about 9 boys ages 9-12 that attended camp from the north who stayed with a host family for the week and were able to do extra, outside of camp activities such as swimming and bowling. A big thanks to our host family Rod and Barbara Everret for opening there house to all 9 players.

Arsenal North Boys Update

After last season's huge successes with the U16 Academy team making the USSDA Playoffs, the U16 FC team making the USYS National Championship Finals in South Carolina, last years U11's making the semi finals of State Cup and last year U14 FC and 18's Academy both making the finals of Dallas Cup as well as the U14 FC team qualifying for USYS Regionals, the boys program finished ranked 7th in the nation!!! Congratulations to all concerned!

This year has started equally brightly with the U14 FC in 1st place in Tier 1 and the U12 White, the U15 White and the U19 White all in 1st place in Tier 2 of SCDSL......The U12 FC are currently in 3rd place in Tier 1! Well done to all!

Congrats also to this years 16's Academy on winning their 1st game of the season against the always strong Galaxy program........brilliant!

Individually, kudos go out to Junior Lemus and Alex Fregoso from the U14 FC team for being invited to try out with the National team for '99's and to Jose Garcia for making all conference academy  from last years 16's academy team....

Historically, our boys north program has always produced teams that have competed at the top of the national level, and I'm proud to say it continues to do so!!!!

Keep up the good work fellas!!!!

Arsenal South Boys Update

I have challenged the Arsenal Teams to go through the season without dropping points  at home in the  league season.

I feel it is crucial for  the  teams playing at home to strike a psychological blow against teams that come to play on home soil.
For us to be successful we need to win at home a team needs to be invincible in its own stadium and that is the challenge  going into the new season.
These matches can be like taking  four points - three in the table and one extra because of the level of the rival.

Many of  the  young players  are currently  looking for  success,  The success is inevitable as long as they keep heading in the right direction.
One of the players, Scholsey, is certainly showing the promise to go on and be a top, top player.  Early success is no guarantee for a illustrious career but over time this player has a very bright future.  He has all the weapons and has improved his mobility and consistency over the last year.

Bu12FC South

I am proud of how the BU12's have progressed since last season.

I think everybody should be proud because  of what Kevin Koptieff & the team have completed over the last 16 month's

Both Coach and Player's have done a fantastic job both on and off the field and you can see the right standards in how they conduct themselves.
It was a great result against our big rivals and it was nice to see the  improved development in the players.  Special praise goes out to Modric who looked like a typical English left-back with his improvement & performance.

As long as  all the boys  keep their  feet on the ground, keep working very, very hard and don't   take anything for granted, there is no reason why they  can't go from strength to strength.

SOUTH GK'S

Hawkey, Clarkey, & Skeets  are  better goalkeeper's now because of the experience  of working with the Likes Of Whitey, Winters & Aidy.

We have  thrown them into  the starting line-up this season and  performances this term have shown a vast improvement.

It's a good fight between the keepers this season because we know the level is quite high and you need to keep working and improve yourself to get the first spot.

Other  Gk's that have hit the Spot-Light this season with some big displays include
Colyn Bu11fc Seb & Andrews Bu10FC & the new rising Star "Chopper" from the Bu8FC

Good Luck for the rest of the season.
Thanks,
Pete Gregory

Arsenal South Girls Update
By Holland Hanson

The Girls South finished the summer tournament schedule on a high as the G14's FC played themselves into a Blues Cup semi-final only to lose 2-1 in overtime, while the G12's FC played themselves into a Blues Cup quarterfinal before bowing out.

With teams starting up their SCDSL campaign we have several teams who have found themselves in the top half of Tier 1 play. Congrats and continued good luck to the G12's FC, G13's FC, G14's FC, and G15's FC as your hard work and dedication to the game is paying off!

Another congrats needs to go out to the team of the month, the G11's FC who are coached by Rich Cortez. The G11's are 3 points out of 1st place in league with a 2-1 record.

With our last games for September coming up this weekend, we wish all the South teams all the best!

ECNL Arsenal ECNL Update
By Holland Hanson

Arsenal ECNL Program Ranked 22nd in the Nation!

Two Arsenal ECNL teams start the 2012/13 ECNL Season Hot!

100 plus degree weather didn't stop the G14's ECNL team from starting their season with back to back wins as the G14's beat Slammers and Strikers in one weekend of play. Their opening season form continued this past weekend as they rolled Real So Cal 5-1 at Real So Cal scoring four goals in the second half as they are one of four undefeated teams in the SoCal Conference.

Also playing in 100 plus degree weather, and more impressive having only been together for the last 3 months as an ECNL team, the G15's ECNL team opened up the season with two ties verse pre-season favorites Slammers and the Irvine Strikers before dropping a last minute result to Real So Cal this past weekend. These early SoCal Conference results and points are huge and hopefully will help as this group gains momentum and confidence and pushes for the ECNL playoffs.

The G16's ECNL having dropped two results to Slammers and Real So Cal, picked up a vital and exciting 3 points in a win verse Strikers.

The G17's have had some tough results in their first three matches and look to secure their first victory of the new season in Phoenix this coming weekend.

The G18's also dropped two of their first three games but where unlucky in tying Strikers as they missed several opportunities to win that game.

Our G15's through G18's will be traveling to Phoenix Arizona this coming weekend to compete in the first schedule ECNL National Event of the 2012/13 season. Last year this early fall event had over 200 plus college coaches there as well as US Soccer National Staff members and scouts. We are very excited for our ECNL teams for this event and the multifacited opportunity that ECNL and the National Events have to offer our Arsenal players.

We wish each team and all of our ECNL players and coaches all the best!!
