Registrations have been steadily coming in. Please remember that April 1 is the last date for the lower rate of $180. Then it goes up to $200. Also, for those who sent in a deposit, the balance due must be postmarked by April 1 or the higher $200 rate will apply.
All the information as well as registration forms are in the links in the article below as well as on our website, area10.handbellmusicians.org. Under the batons of William Payn and Shirley Lindberg, you will take the music to new heights of musicality.
There is also a pre-conference Directors' Seminar with William Payn on Friday, June 22, 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity to refine your skills. The last date for the early rate of $60 is April 1.
If you are unable to open any of the forms, please email me and I will gladly send them to you as attachments or, if you prefer, snail mail them to you.
Please remember the Youth Handbell Festival on Saturday, March 24, and Techniques Worskshop on Friday evening, March 23. These are perfect ways to network and enjoy ringing with many other youth in Area 10. See the article below and contact Ellie Hodder with any questions.
Please help spread the word about the conference, pre-conference Directors' Seminar, Youth Festival and other Area 10 events. Forward this newsletter to other directors you know. Also encourage your ringers to subscribe to the newsletter.

Pacific NW Youth Handbell Festival 2012
March 24, 2012
Theme: "Around the World"
New: Teen Challenge Choir!
Michle Sharik, guest clinician
First Unitarian Church, Portland
Dear Director,
It pleases me to tell you that we have succeeded in making the Pacific NW Youth Handbell Festival an annual event. This year, it will take place in Portland on March 24th at First Unitarian Church. Our clinician is Michle Sharik, one of the "go to" ringers in developing handbell technique.
This year, too, there are two special events within the festival. First, we are going to try out a Teen Challenge choir that will have the opportunity to work together on a tough piece for the evening concert. Second, there will be a dedicated techniques workshop on Friday evening with Michle that is open to both youth and adults.
Developing youth ensembles and helping each other sustain young ringers' interest is a number one goal of the guild. Regular ringing events are a key element in helping us achieve this goal. Please do consider bringing your ringers to this event.
DON'T HAVE A FULL CHOIR? No problem. This is often the case and I am happy to help bring choirs together so our kids can experience large choir ringing.
HAVE A FEW KIDS LOOKING FOR A CHOIR TO PRACTICE WITH? Please let me know and I will do everything I can to help you network with directors in your area so all our kids may participate.
QUESTIONS? Please do jet me an email or give me a call/txt.
I look forward to greeting you at the Pacific NW Youth Handbell Festival.
Sincerely,
Ellie Hodder

Youth Choir Directors Survey
Handbell directors working with children and youth in churches, could you please take 10 minutes and complete a survey? Results will be reflected in my final paper, required for the Master of Church Music degree at Concordia University Wisconsin. For survey results or clarifications, contact me (bethannedwards@msn.com; 515.490.9408). The survey results will give us a current snapshot of the state of children's and youth handbell choirs in churches.
The survey is divided into three areas: church statistics and background, children's and youth handbell choirs, and background of the survey respondent. I will make the results available later this spring or early this summer.
To access the survey, please go to the following link (by March 31):
