Dear Friends, 

Are you All in at All Saints!?!

That’s the question as we prepare to re-enter the program year after a long and, I hope for you, relaxing summer. As the days grow shorter, children return to school, and the general election intensifies, all signs point to fall, despite the outrageous heat of the past week. Now, that could sound rather serious—the fun of summer is over, the work of fall and winter are on the horizon. But from where I’m sitting, the reality of re-gathering at All Saints, having all our children in the nursery and Atrium, seeing all of you regularly, is pure JOY!

There’s a lot to be “All In at All Saints” this fall, which you can read about below, but let me highlight just a couple things for you to put on your calendars to think about after the three-day weekend:

All In / All Saints Weekend

• September 14: Kick Off Party. Games at 4:30pm | Pizza at 6:00pm | Dance Party at 7:00pm with late night bites at 9:00pm. PLEASE RSVP BELOW.
• September 15: All Saints Annual Photo. 10:50am in front of the church.

All In / All Saints Generosity

• September 1: School Supplies for Ravenswood School due.
• September 8: Home goods for arriving refugee family due. SIGN UP BELOW.

All In / All Saints Connections

• September  8: Atrium begins. Children return to church school.
• September 11: Faith, Life, and Work with Annie Logue. 7 pm at the Annex.
• September 22: Newcomers Lunch. 12:30. Please RSVP below.
• October: Small Groups! Info coming about five-week small group at All Saints.

There’s a lot of concern in the larger world about isolation, division, and loneliness, all real. One of the beauties of All Saints has always been and continues to be that here we are ALL IN. All in for one another. All in for our community. All in for justice and mercy. All in for living our faith. All in for JOY.

Back to School Drive for Ravenswood Elementary School

Please bring supplies to church no later than this Sunday, September 1 so we can get everything delivered to them.

Our friends at Ravenswood Elementary have asked us to collect paper and supplies to get the school year off to a great start. Anything we are able to give will be welcomed by the staff and students at Ravenswood.

Coffee Hour & Sparkling Sundays are back from Summer Vacation! 

Church school will soon be back in session and temperatures will be dipping, encouraging us all to cherish time in the parish hall between Sunday services.

Coffee Hour at 10am on Sundays

Please consider signing up to host coffee hour from now through December. You can bring your own flair, be it simple or lavish. This is a great parish service that invites us to connect and receive community hospitality.

Ann Logue (rhymes with vogue) is a writer specializing in business and finance. She is the author of five books on investing including Day Trading for Dummies (Wiley 2007; 5e 2024), and she has written for Business Insider, Entrepreneur, and Alternatives Watch, among other publications. She lives in Chicago and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Church School Re-opens

It's almost time to welcome children back to the Atrium, and we couldn't be more excited!

Sunday, September 8

For returning Atrium I students (ages 4–6) and both new and returning students in Atrium II (6–9) and Atrium III (9–12), the 2024–25 church school year kicks off on

Sunday, September 8.

Saturday, September 14 | Sunday, September 15 start

For children ages 3–6 who are new to Atrium I this year.

Children new to Atrium I are invited (with their grown-ups) to a gentle introduction on Saturday, September 14, 9:30–11 a.m. before starting church school the next day, Sunday, September 15.

Grown-ups of any child age 3 to 12 who would like to join the All Saints' church school for the first time can register for our free program and learn more by emailing Children’s Formation Coordinator Polly Tangora.

Hey All Saints! Are you ALL IN?

We're kicking off our return to the program year with a Saturday celebration.

Games begin at 4:30pm | Pizza Dinner at 6:00pm | Disco Dance Party at 7:00pm

Which Hue are YOU? Wear your Pantone Color-inspired outfit on Sunday, September 15 for the Annual All Parish Photo. So many hues, so little time (to choose).

The 2024 color is Peach Fuzz which has been described as "a velvety gentle tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul." Could it be more perfect?

2nd Annual Parish Directory Update

It’s time for our second annual Breeze (our secure directory database) update.

Here’s why it’s important:

We want to know and serve you and your family better!

When we know more about our All Saints community, we can serve you better. In that spirit, we have added one field and updated another to learn more about our demographics, particularly race and age. To capture this updated info, we ask that you check your Breeze profile to make sure it is up to date. And we ask that you fill out the form (link below) whether you’re new to the directory or already have info there.

Add a current photo of yourself, your family.

The form (link below) provides a place to upload individual and family pictures. If you are unable to locate a current photo or are having issues uploading photos, we will have photo stations available after church during September and we will upload photos for you.

Print version of the updated directory.

We will print a copy of the updated directory this fall. If you choose "yes" to being in the directory, you will also be able to access the online directory by creating a password-protected login. This will allow you to search for contact information (email, phone, address) for other persons in the directory and for them to search for you.

Please NOTE: your info is not publicly available even if you choose to be in our directory and it is optional when you fill out the form. Your financial information or personal demographics are never visible to others and will not be printed.

Help us make sure the larger church knows how vital we are!

We are (faithfully) proud of All Saints and we add our statistics, demographic data only, to a Parochial Report sent to the larger Episcopal Church. The Parochial Report provides important information for the use of parishes, dioceses, and the whole Episcopal Church.

All Saints Refugee Volunteer and Donation

All Saints was fortunate to have the Rev. Jason Mohn from Exodus World Services as our guest preacher on Sunday, August 18. We are now starting to collect items for a welcome kit and to offer hospitality to a refugee family to the United States.

Back to School Drive for Ravenswood Elementary School

Our friends at Ravenswood Elementary have asked us to collect paper and supplies to get the school year off to a great start. Anything we are able to give will be welcomed by the staff and students at Ravenswood. And we look forward to other ways to build our relationship with the school throughout the year!

Please bring supplies to church no later than September 1 so that we can get everything delivered to them. Below is a list of what they’ve requested.

Copy Paper: Rather than collecting paper here, we are collecting money and will order paper to be delivered right to the school’s loading dock.

Backpacks: We need 15-20 backpacks for newly arrived refugee and immigrant children who are enrolling in school for the first time.  

School Supplies: Pencils, erasers, markers, notebooks, etc (All the things you can find in the “Back to School” aisle) to fill up the backpacks. 

Feminine Hygiene Supplies: This is a request from students. While CPS provides tampons and pads for students, the pads tend to be XL. Girls have asked the the principal, Mr. Guerrero for more “tween” appropriate supplies. Both Kotex and Always make tween specific products. And you can also find various brands (Pinkie, Asana, Lil-lets) on Amazon.

Craft Supplies for Teachers: Many teachers have to spend their own funds for classroom supplies due to the tight budgets of schools. The list below can help teacher integrate the arts more fully into their classroom. These can all be found on Amazon or at places like Michael.

Assorted Color Pipe Cleaners, 2 lb buckets of Crayola Model Magic clay, construction paper, crayons, 5”-pointed tip scissors, construction paper.

RCS is also looking for volunteers who would like to join

the Tuesday Delivery Crew. 

Every Tuesday between 12:30-2pm volunteers unload A LOT OF FOOD from pallets on the sidewalk to the Parish Hall for distribution. You should feel comfortable lifting 30-50 lbs and going up and down stairs. Those interested should reach out to Parker at parker@ravenswoodcommunityservices.org.

The 29th annual Ravenswood Run returns to our historic neighborhood!

whether by running, walking, cheering, or volunteering

The Ravenswood Run was started by dedicated parishioners/runners in 1996 to raise money for the parish-run food pantry, now RCS. It has grown into a beloved annual run, one of the only neighborhood 5K runs in the city. Open to all ages with special events for kids 10 years old and younger.
