News for the Week of:

May 19, 2024

Dear Friends,

The great feast of Pentecost is upon us! This is the day we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit, whom Jesus promises will comfort us, come alongside us, making us into a community, a church, Christ's body on earth. It's a bit of a funny thing to suggest that the Holy Spirit "arrives" at some point since we know She has always been active! Called Sophia and Wisdom, the breath of God, throughout Hebrew Scriptures, She appears at Jesus' baptism.

Now, true confession: I'm no Pneumatologist (scholar of the Holy Spirit), but one of the joys of our faith is knowing that the Spirit is always with us. God is not distant but active in the world, in our lives, always and right now.

That is why we can discern where God is calling us, individually, as a community, NOW, in this time and context. I can forget sometimes to stop, look, and listen for God's presence, but what a gift to remember that we are not alone! And the more we look for how the Holy Spirit is at work in the world and in one another, the more aware we become that God is with us, luring us, nudging us, on.

So, how is the Holy Spirit moving in your life? Where do you see the Holy Spirit moving at All Saints? I'd love to hear.

See you in church!

Faithfully, Suzanne+

Another Round to Begin!

We are experimenting with small groups at All Saints! In a busy, fragmented society, taking time to connect regularly and deeply with others and with God is a balm.

We will offer another round of small groups after the May 18 Conversation.

Centering Prayer

Wednesdays, May 22, 29, and June 5. 6:20 - 7:00 pm. Reading Room.

Learn the basics of centering prayer, sit together and pray in silence, and end with a brief conversation about faith and prayer.

God Sightings & Bible Study

Wednesdays, May 22, 29, and June 5. 11:30am - 12:30pm. Reading Room.

This small group will check in with one another about where and how they have experienced the Holy in the past week and then read and discuss the scripture for the upcoming Sunday.

On-Line Option: God Sightings & Bible Study

Wednesdays, May 22, 29, and June 5. 7:30 - 8:30pm. On Zoom.

This small group will check in with one another about where and how they have experienced the Holy in the past week and then read and discuss the scripture for the upcoming Sunday.

Thank you from the Mexican Outreach Committee!

Thanks to all who attended our Fiesta last Sunday and to all who contributed to Our Outreach Fund. Padré Bayron was very glad to see old friends for the first time in five years and very pleased to see that so many new members of the congregation were interested in the work of his ministries in Cuernavaca, Mexico.

You can listen to Padré Bayron’s sermon HERE and learn more about his ministries.

For those of you who were unable to join us you may donate to our Mexico Outreach page (link below).

We hope to raise $6000 this year for our “Companeros en Cristo” in Mexico. Read about our long-term relationship HERE and donate HERE or by putting a little (or more) in the collection plate on May 12. As in the Butterfly Effect, our efforts here have a far greater effect in Mexico.

Any questions, contact Jim Hanna at Thank you so much.
