September is Ethics Month

The following message was distributed to PRSA members Aug. 23.

Public relations is built on the foundation of honesty, trust and commitment to serve the public good. At PRSA, we take those responsibilities seriously as evidenced by the strength of our Code of Ethics and the standards we set for ourselves in our own practice of the profession.

As we celebrate Ethics Month this September, it’s important to remember that applying your ethical principles must be deliberate and a continuous focus throughout the year. This is why this year’s theme, “Ethics Every Day,” is so appropriate.

Acting ethically can be demanding at times, but as Norman Schwarzkopf Jr. said, “The truth of the matter is that you always know the right thing to do. The hard part is doing it.” To help you navigate some of the challenges you may face, we’re showcasing a number of programs next month, covering the most important trends happening today in the industry.

For more information on Ethics Month programming, be sure to check out the  Communities homepage  of MyPRSA.

Best regards,
