Dr. John C. Turner '00 Named Executive Director of the Black Leadership Initiative at Marian University
Dr. John C. Turner (BCHS Class of 2000) has been named the inaugural Executive Director of the Black Leadership Initiative (BLI) at Marian University. The Black Leadership Initiative will award 25 full-tuition scholarships each academic year to incoming first-year black students at Marian University. The scholarship, combined with purposeful programming and individualized support, will serve to help support the academic success of each BLI Scholar.
As a student at BCHS, Dr. Turner was a 1998 Center for Leadership Development Alumni, a part of the 1998 BCHS Football State Championship team, and a 2000 All-Star State Marching Band member. John received his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Indiana State University, and his PhD from Indiana University Indianapolis.
One of Dr. Turner's most cherished memories from his time at BCHS was the vibrant school spirit he felt as a football player. He vividly remembers the thrill of walking through the hallways with the marching band, heading toward the gymnasium for campus assemblies, and the electrifying energy of the students cheering and singing the BCHS fight song.
