S. 290 State Health Facility Licensure Act repealing Certificate of Need for all facilities and services except nursing homes passed the Senate on January 25. The CON Repeal Bill must still pass the House before it can be forwarded to the Governor and enacted. We expect opponents of repeal to seek reform instead.
The House Ways & Means Committee created a special Ad Hoc Committee chaired by Gary Simrill (Rock Hill) to study S. 290/CON and take testimony.
We originally expected this committee to meet this week, but we’ve been told to expect the first meeting during the week of April 18, 2022.
Members of the Ad Hoc Committee:
Gary Simrill-R, Rock Hill, Chairman
Bill Herbkersman-R, Bluffton portion of Beaufort County
Heather Crawford-R, Horry County
Mark Willis-R, Laurens County / Fountain Inn portion of Greenville County
Bill Clyburn-D, Aiken
Lonnie Hosey-D, Allendale / Bamberg Counties
Todd Rutherford-D, Columbia
