Christians in Pakistan Petition Supreme Court to End Discrimination in Education System

11/12/2015 Pakistan (Christian Today)

Christians in Pakistan have petitioned the Supreme Court to end discrimination against religious minorities in Pakistan's educational system. Specifically, the petition calls on the Court to remove hate speech riddled through textbooks against Pakistan's religious minorities. So far, provincial governments have failed to remove the hate speech which has taught almost a generation of Pakistanis to distrust and hate religious minorities. If the hate speech is removed and religious minorities are shown to be equal citizens in Pakistan's educational system, it will be another step towards religious tolerance the country desperately needs.

  • Pray that this petition will be successful in removing hate speech in school textbooks across Pakistan
  • Pray that Pakistan will continue to make reforms toward religious tolerance and religious equality for Christians in Pakistan

Displaced Christians cannot Escape Violence in Nigeria

11/12/2015 Nigeria (World Watch Monitor)

Those seeking refuge from the Syrian civil war in Europe have been consistently welcomed by large swaths of humanitarian aid and support. For those in West Africa fleeing persecution and death at the hands of the Islamic terror group Boko Haram, they are welcomed with only despair and menial aid. Once they enter the countless displacement camps in the Lake Chad region, they do not fully escape the threat of death at the hands of Jihadists. Suicide attacks have increased along the border and in these very displacement camps targeting those inside who have been predominately Christian refugees.  The Ekkliziyar Yan'uwa a Nigeria church (EYN) has over one million members but has lost over 8,000 to the violence and over 700,000 have been displaced.

  • Pray for the protection of the thousands of displaced Christians who are fleeing violence in Nigeria
  • Praise God for the victory that God brings to the Nigerian military against Boko Haram; pray that the military will continue to defeat the terrorist group in regions across Africa
  • Pray that the international community will wake up from their slumber and raise their voices on behalf of the displaced people of Nigeria

Christians in Bangladesh Narrowly Escape being Burned to Death

11/12/2015 Bangladesh (Christian Post)

Earlier this month, four Christian families in northern Bangladesh narrowly escaped being burned to death in their homes after being accused of practicing witchcraft. A local government official has come out in defense of the Christians claiming that the witchcraft accusations are false. This is not the first incident these Christian families have had with local Muslims. According to one of the Christians, bricks have been thrown at their homes and they have been verbally abused on several occasions. Police are still searching for the culprits.

  • Pray for the safety and continued protection of the four Christian families
  • Pray for an end to extremism in Bangladesh and pray that God would bring revival to Bangladesh
  • Pray that God will bless the efforts to raise money for the families so they can start their new livelihoods

Christians Continue to Face Torture in China

11/12/2015 China (UCA News)

China faces the United Nations Committee Against Torture in Geneva on November 18 and 19 on many allegations of torture experienced by countless prisoners of conscience. Of those who experience the worst forms of torture are religious minorities; Christians and Tibetan Buddhists endure medieval torture methods as a 'daily reality'. These acts are not surprising when one understands the history involved between religion and communism. The level of persecution in the Zhejiang province is at a level which has not been seen for many years. Whatever comes of the meeting between China and the U.N., we must continue to pray for Christians in China and make sure our elected officials know the heinous acts occurring in the communist nation.

  • Pray that China's meeting with the United Nations Committee will be a catalyst for greater reform in China
  • Pray for the thousands of Christians who are being threatened, tortured and imprisoned for their faith in China
  • Pray for the safety of lawyers and human rights activist in China who are being targeted by the government for speaking out on China's human rights abuses

'Unimaginable Horrors' Detailed in US Report on ISIS' Persecution of Christians

11/4/2015 Middle East (Christian Post)

The United States Department of State has detailed in its International Religious Freedom report what one group described as "unimaginable horrors" Christians are facing at the hands of the Islamic State terror group, including beheadings and kidnappings. The report provides documentation of the many horrific accounts that have occurred on a daily basis over the past year. The report is intended to give a voice to those horrors, but also to be the basis on which concrete steps are made to see those abuses addressed.

  • Pray that God would comfort and encourage Christians displaced by violence; that they'd be strong in Him
  • Pray that the Church would experience an unprecedented presence of the Holy Spirit throughout this crisis to change the region, the country, and the Middle East
  • Pray that God would save young misled people from ISIS and judge leaders who are misleading youth with their evil ideologies

Miracle in the Middle East: 37 Christian Captives Freed

11/10/2015 Syria (Charisma)

After more than eight months in captivity, 37 of more than 200 hostages were released after long-standing negotiations between church leaders and the radical Islamic group, ISIS. The hostages released were all elderly, most in their 60s and 70s. Negotiations are still on-going to attempt to free the remaining 100+ still held.

  • Praise God for the release of the 37 ISIS captives in Syria
  • Pray for the swift and safe release of the more than 160 captives that remain in captivity by ISIS
  • Pray for Assyrian families who have been uprooted from their homes by the fighting, displaced in their own country, or fleeing to neighboring countries for safety
