Anti-Modi Protest Held Outside White House

10/1/2014 India (The Hindu)

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Barack Obama held a private meeting in the White House as a public meeting of protestors took place in Lafeyette Park. Kashmiri and Sikh groups, including Sikhs for Justice, and other protestors waved placards and shouted anti-Modi slogans for his inaction and possible assistance of religious persecutions. Eleven Congressmen from both parties wrote to the President, urging him to seize the "opportunity to discuss religious inclusion and protection of religious minorities in India." They noted that persecution of religious minorities has increased since Modi took office.

 Full Story

  • Pray that President Obama will do more than just meet with Mr. Modi, but stand up for those suffering for their faith in India
  • Pray that Prime Minister Modi will be held accountable for his actions and inaction against the Indian people and accept the name of Jesus
  • Pray that Christ will bless all Christians in India as they endure hardships

Laos Christians Arrested For Religious Gathering

9/29/2014 Laos (HRWLRF)

The chief of Boukham village, along with the village security officials and village police, arrested Pastor Sompong Supatto and six other Christian believers for exercising religious freedom in gathering for worship at the house of Pastor Supatto. All seven remain detained at the Boukham village government headquarters. Unlike some countries that have laws against religious freedom, the Lao constitution has laws for religious freedoms and to exercise them through worship. This was ratified in 2009 along with the U.N. International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, but is not always being carried out in reality.

  • Pray for Christ's strength to come upon Pastor Supatto and the six other Christians as they are persecuted for His name's sake
  • Pray that the Lao government will hold these authority figures accountable for their actions and immediately release any being detained for their faith
  • Pray that nonbelievers in Laos will accept Jesus Christ as their Savior

Former U.S. Ambassador Confirms Talks To Release The Chibok Girls

9/28/2014 Nigeria (Council on Foreign Relations)

There are credible reports that there are negotiations between Nigeria and Boko Haram to exchange the kidnapped Chibok schoolgirls for Boko Haram commanders. As occurred in July, an agreement hasn't been made due to numbers. The negotiating team, led by Shehu Sani, president of the Civil Rights Congress in Nigeria and Geneva human rights activist, wants all of the Chibok girls, but Boko Haram is agreeing to only 15 Muslims and 15 Christians for 19 commanders. These negotiations have been put on hold until after the Eid-el-Kabir holiday. Want to help? Visit: http://info.persecution.org/NotForgotten

  • Pray in thanks to God for His mercy and faithfulness in this situation
  • Pray that the girls and their families will keep trusting in our Lord, especially those that are still being held captive
  • Pray for success in negotiations and for Boko Haram to return all they have taken and give themselves to the Lord who will set them free

Suit Filed In U.S. To Stop High School Students From Saying "Under God" In Pledge

9/24/2014 United States (Charisma News)

A New Jersey state court has allowed Samantha Jones, a high school student, to defend her right to say the Pledge of Allegiance and "one nation under God" with representation by Becket Fund for Religious Liberty. Jones and her family, as well as other pledge defender groups, are responding to the atheist group American Humanist Association's second attempt to rid the pledge of these words. "When I say the Pledge of Allegiance, I am recognizing that my rights come from God, not from the government," said Jones. "If anyone wants to remain silent, that is their right. But it is not their right to silence me."

  • Pray that Samantha would remain strong in her convictions and continue to advocate for religious freedom
  • Pray that the United States would continue to allow "under God" to remain in the Pledge of Allegiance
  • Pray that those advocating against the phrase would turn to Christ and show greater tolerance towards others practicing their faiths

More Crosses Demolished, China's Zhejiang Government Defends The Campaign

9/24/2014 China (ChinaAid)

Since late August, four Wenzhou-area churches in China's coastal Zhejiang province have reported nearly 300 cross demolitions, and growing, by government hired persons. Many of these demolitions resulted in the serious injury or detention of local Christians young and old, men and women. Believers also told China Aid that a Zhejiang newspaper, "Zhejiang Daily," defended the demolitions and the "Three Rectifications and One Demolition" campaign, referring to those overseas as "hostile forces" that are exploiting the situation to "stir up trouble."

  • Pray that Christians continue to see that God's church remains despite the demolition of physical buildings
  • Pray that nonbelievers in China will accept Christ, see His Truth and receive His healing
  • Pray for a continued revival in China as people turn to Jesus's name for salvation

Syria: 800 Christians Gather In Aleppo Peace Demonstration

9/23/2014 Syria (ANSAMed)

Despite bombings by anti-Assad militants in Christian neighborhoods, schools are reopening and an estimated 800 Syrian Christian youth gathered in Aleppo's Salesian center to demonstrate resistance to ongoing fighting between regime and rebel forces, according to a Syrian Catholic priest. Among Christians and moderate Muslims, "resentment is strong toward the West, which allowed terrorist groups to take root in parts of Syria, a nation that was once a symbol of coexistence among faiths," the priest added. Despite the increasing threat posed by groups linked to the Islamic State, hope remains for Christians in Syria.

  • Pray that God will continue to strengthen Christians in Syria, as they gather and stand in His name to shine His light in the face of enemies
  • Pray that ISIS and all others against Christ, will lose sooner rather than later and find redemption through Christ
  • Pray that Syria will have a revival of our Lord and Savior for the salvation of all
