Hindu Radicals Demand Christian Missionaries to Leave Nepal

9/29/2015 Nepal (Christian Today)

A Hindu radical group called Morcha Nepal has distributed leaflets in Nepal demanding that Christian missionaries leave the country. Recently, Nepal adopted a constitution that maintained the country's secular character. In response, the Morcha Nepal bombed several churches. Despite the government keeping Nepal a secular state, the constitution the country adopted contains a clause that makes attempts to convert individuals from one religion to another illegal. Many Christians fear that this clause will be used to persecute Christian pastors and other religious minority leaders.

  • Pray that Christians in Nepal will not be discouraged by the persecution of the Morcha group but continue to proclaim the Gospel in boldness and in faith
  • Pray that Nepal will remove an anti-conversion clause in its new constitution that states, "any act to convert another person from one religion to another" illegal
  • Pray for the protection of Christians in Nepal amidst increasing attacks and persecution

Unreported Incidents of Christians Accused of Blasphemy in Pakistan Over Past Two Years

9/30/2015 Pakistan (Crossmap)

Since 2013, 23 incidents of Pakistani Christians being accused of blasphemy have gone unreported. This is due to the intervention of multi-religious groups who work to head off these incidents before the become deadly. In Pakistan, Christians are disproportionately accused and convicted of blaspheming against Islam. In most cases, the law is being used as a weapon to settle scores, for financial gain, or to incite religious hatred. Sometimes, a blasphemy accusation against a religious minority is the precursor for communal violence in which religious minority communities are attacked.

  • Pray for an end to Pakistan's deadly blasphemy laws used as a tool of violence against Christians
  • Pray for the strongholds of Islamic extremism and terrorist violence to be broken and rendered powerless
  • Pray for breakthroughs in reaching spiritually oppressed people living in areas currently beyond the reach of a Christian witness

  • Pray that humanitarian organizations and churches will be able to reach persecuted communities and meet its spiritual as well as physical needs
  • Pray that the Church will pray with one heart: "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, in Heaven as well as in Syria and Iraq."
