An Aloha Mission!

Last month a group of ten members and friends of FCC in Kennett participated in a mission trip to Oahu, Hawaii. They ranged in age from their teens to their 80s, but all had a heart for adventure and for helping people. They worked at two different churches doing things like moving, cleaning, and painting to benefit the congregations' after school programs and the children they serve. Read more about their experience and see lots of great photos here>

DMF Day(s)

Last Thursday, September 12 was the first of four DMF (Disciples Mission Fund) Days this year. The event began on that day to celebrate the legacy of Alexander Campbell on his 236th birthday. A series of informative videos was shared over the last week highlighting many different aspects of our ministries together, and encouraging all to support DMF with a donation of perhaps $236, $23.60, or even $2.36 as every bit helps to continue the work. Our Regional Minister Ron Routledge was featured on Day 2 sharing about our Rural Ministry Network! (at 26:03 in this recording)

Diaper Drive

A friendly competition was recently held between First Christian Church and Community Christian Church in Jefferson City. Both churches were charged with collecting diapers for the Capital City Diaper Bank. More than 14,000 diapers were collected with Community Christian Church winning the competition by collecting over 12,000 diapers. The real winners of this competition are the babies in the Jefferson City area. The Capital City Diaper Bank works with various agencies in the area to distribute diapers to families in need. Community CC is looking forward to making this an annual event.

Threads of Joy Follow-Up

We threaded some joy at our Rural Ministry Network workshop this spring and everyone’s participation was greatly appreciated. The feedback was positive and together we are on our way to actively supporting our rural churches. The input was invaluable! Join us at FCC in Eldon on October 19 to focus on the five themes that were identified at the spring meetings as needing more attention. The event is free but registration is needed by October 1.
