Regional Assembly Registration is Open!

Our Regional Assembly plans are coming along beautifully and registration is now open! Please plan to join us at First Christian Church in St. Joseph August 8-10. Our theme is The Church Narrative Project: Shaping Our Future Story and we are very excited to have several fantastic guest speakers joining us. We will welcome General Minister & President Rev. Terri Hord Owens, Vice-President & Chief of staff Rev. Yvonne Gilmore, Counter Stories Consulting’s Rev. Dr. David Anderson Hooker, and Georgia Interim Regional Minister Rev. Dr. Joan Bell Haynes, as well as many knowledgeable workshop presenters from right here in Mid-America.

We are full of many wonderful and delightful stories that narrate the Church we love. All shared stories create our future story that is to be open, honest, vulnerable, and reflective of our faith; a “fluid constant in changing times.”

Christian Ministries Scholarships Available

Our Mid-America Disciples Women have a Christian Ministries Scholarship Fund, the purpose of which is to provide financial assistance for those preparing for Christian Ministries, both in seminary and undergraduate education. The annual application period is open until midnight on May 31. Learn more and apply>

New Clergy FB Page

A new way for clergy to connect is coming in June! Be on the look-out for a newly created Mid-America Clergy Facebook page. This will give all clergy with standing, and those in the process of obtaining standing, in our region a place to share, support, connect, crowdsource ideas, and learn from one another. Often ministry can become isolating, especially if your colleagues are miles away. Your Regional Ministry Team will be facilitating this space for all clergy to be connected with one another across the region!

Mid-America Men & Friends Awaken

Regional Minister Paul Koch will be the co-convener of this fall's Awaken event (formerly Soularize) being held at Lake Williamson Center in Illinois Oct. 31-Nov. 3. This retreat incorporates the touchstones that make Illuman unique: deep inner work utilizing ritual, story, nature, poetry, drumming, small group councils, contemplative practices, and open time to just rest, recreate, and connect. Scholarships are available. Contact Rev. Dr. Koch for more information and/or register here>

Staying Connected

Recently Kirby Gould of the Christian Church Foundation (left) visited with Rev. Jennifer Long of Faith CC in Buffalo. They are very excited about their 'new to them' shared space with a Methodist Congregation. Long said, "It was a joy to show her around and tell our story."
