Virtual Clergy Cluster

For ministers, connecting with our peers and colleagues is vital, but sometimes those opportunities do not fit into our work/life schedule. That’s why we created an opportunity to gather virtually with colleagues from across our Region for nurture and support.

If you’re not involved in a clergy cluster, or if you want to connect with other ministers across the Region, join us on Zoom Tuesday evening, August 27 at 7:00pm.

Calling New Dads

A new offering of A Father for Generation Alpha starts next week, Aug. 27 on Tuesday nights 8-9 pm after the kids go to bed. :). The offering is FREE and is designed for new dads and older men still looking to be fully present in their children's and grandchildren's lives.

Some reflections from recent Dads:

"It was medicine for my soul. A balm for the current times. It was truly transformative to be welcomed into a group of men with open arms and offered wisdom to explore and integrate in my life."

"I think men will be surprised how other men are having the same feelings they are or are going through the self same challenges life offers. As men it is hard for us to give voice to those challenges but the gatherings somehow remove the barriers keeping us to ourselves. By sharing honestly with these men, we are supporting one another with no judgment, just listening; no call to action or need to change but somehow in that space made to simply listen and share, we are changed and we do it together."

"This was such a gift to me. I am so deeply grateful. It was really powerful for me to have an opportunity to go deeper with other dads. I loved the intergenerational aspect of having us "new dads" alongside the guides (and I love the framing of "guides" and "witnesses"). The ritual in particular was very powerful."

"A blessing. A constant in the chaos. A place to be understood and to be affirmed in the trials that exist in this unique season of life."

Regional Minister Paul Koch is involved in the leadership team as part of his Disciples Men regional ministry. Contact him for more information if you'd like.

Explore POTC

"Peaceful Options for Training and Careers" (POTC) is a free, online resource (explorePOTC.org), sponsored by Mennonite Church USA, that provides information and guidance about careers and support for post-high school young people who are interested in choices other than military enlistment. Although Mennonite Church USA is one of the historic peace churches, the website does not encourage or attempt to persuade youth to reject military service. Rather, it seeks to provide accurate information about military service and alternatives. The website exists to help interested young people navigate the vast number of relevant online resources with the assistance of trained advisors.
